2023 Cadillac Lyriq Buyers In Canada Get Free Home Charger Installation Or Public Charging

Obviously, one of the most important aspects of running an all-electric vehicle is figuring out where to charge the thing. Now, eligible Cadillac Lyriq customers in Canada can have a new at-home charging system installed at no cost. Alternatively, eligible customers may also receive free public charging.

For those eligible customers who elect to install an 11.5 kW Ultium PowerUp wall-mounted charging station at their primary residence, Cadillac will cover the installation costs, providing the convenience of charging at home, plus quicker charge times, with the 11.5 kW system recharging the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq overnight, as compared to the three days it takes to recharge a depleted battery using a standard 120-volt outlet.

Cadillac is partnering with Qmerit for installation services, relying on a nationwide network to help Cadillac Lyriq owners find qualified and experienced EV equipment installers and coordinate their Level 2 charger installation experience.

“This offer will elevate our customers’ experience with the Lyriq, helping them make a smoother transition to all-electric driving,” said Managing Director at Cadillac Canada, Shane Peever. “Like the Lyriq itself, the charging experience will set the standard for customers’ EV experiences.”

Alternatively, eligible Cadillac Lyriq customers who already have a Level 2 charger at home (or simply don’t need one) are offered $750 in FLO public charging credit. According to Cadillac, FLO provides access to the largest number of public charging stations in Canada, including more than 65,000 charging plugs across North America through affiliated networks.

Notably, Cadillac is offering similar deals to Cadillac Lyriq customers in the U.S.

As a reminder, the Cadillac Lyriq offers Level 2 charging rates up to 19.2 kW, adding more than 50 miles of range per hour of charge for 2023 Lyriq RWD models. Additionally, the Cadillac Lyriq is equipped with DC quick-charge capabilities up to 190 kW, which enables charging rates of roughly 76 miles in just 10 minutes.

The Cadillac Lyriq is based on the GM BEV3 platform. Production takes place at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.

  1. Actually significantly different – if this article is to be taken verbatim.

US offer is *UP TO* USD$1,500 to install a 32-40 ampere capable wall receptacle that the included 12-32 ampere 110/220 charge cord plugs into…. No mention in the article was made as to whether Canada-destined vehicles get this particular charging cord.

Alternative is to provide 24 months totally free EVGO (or partner ChargePoint) fast charging… This seems to me to be significantly more valuable than C$750 of Level 2 FLO ‘slow’ charging credit… Unless FLO has fast chargers in Canada, that is.

The one part superior is the installation of a 48 ampere wall box which all new GM products can fully utilize.. Of course – does this mean even in DIFFICULT installations where totally new electrics are required, that GM CANADA will STILL pay the total bill?

  3. Just did a search on “Flo ” SmartDC fast chargers. 125 or 200 amps dc (50 or 100 kw theoretical maximum).

Interestingly the supply AC must be a USA style 480 volts, which is non-standard in Canada (208, or 600 volts are standard).

But then the same issue arises with Tesla’s Superchargers with 600 to 480 volt auto transformers Installed there.
