Rough Country Presents Chevy Silverado HD, GMC Sierra HD Lift Kits: Video

Rough Country, an aftermarket parts supplier that specializes in trucks and off-road vehicles, recently released a video showcasing its five-inch and seven-inch torsion bar drop suspension lift kits for the latest generation of GM’s heavy duty pickups – the Chevy Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD.

Both the five- and seven-inch lift kits are able to be outfitted on the 2020 model year and newer GM HD trucks, raising the trucks’ stance while maintaining ride quality. The kit allows the pickup to have the torsion-drop look without sacrificing ground clearance, and does not add any track width to the vehicle.

The torsion drop lift kit includes a replacement knuckle and dropped crossmembers in the front and rear, along with dropped crossmembers to ensure proper CV angles are maintained. Brackets to drop the factory torsion bar crossmember are also included, as are front and rear valved N3 Series shock absorbers, plus a rear fabricated steel lift blocks for a level stance. The kit has all hardware needed for installation, including full sway bar links, a skid plate and brake line relocation brackets. Both the five- and seven-inch kits bundle the same equipment.

Rough Country estimates that the kits will take between eight and 10 hours to install, and there is some minor drilling and cutting necessary to make the pieces fit. However, this does not include drilling and modifying the differential, drivetrain or exhaust components. A limited lifetime warranty applies to each kit.

The five-inch torsion drop lift kit runs $1,749.95, while the seven-inch kit costs $1,799.95. It’s important to note that the kits are not compatible with dual rear wheel (dually) models or models. Also worth noting is that gasoline-powered Silverado HD or Sierra HD models may require modification to the exhaust for driveshaft clearance.

  1. Hate that slight squat in the back. Worse if you add any weight. In the 80’s it seemed all the blazers were like that.

  2. I agree on the rear “squat” I finally found out what happened to all the JC Whitney trim accessories. There are 12 black pieces+- on a side view. GM really needs to get rid of the black inserts for the side steps and bumper. Leave them the same color as the body, and add a coating like Line X.
