The 2022 Cadillac Escalade is designed to automatically activate either the Daytime Running Lamps or primary headlamps, depending on the current ambient light levels. However, some 2022 Cadillac Escalade owners may have noticed the SUV activating the primary headlamps in the daytime, rather than just the Daytime Running Lamps. Now, the cause of this issue has been identified, as has a fix.
According to GM TechLink, some owners may notice that their 2022 Cadillac Escalade headlamps activate during the daytime when the headlamp switch is set to Auto. The cause of this issue is faulty programming in the Body Control Module (BCM), which monitors the ambient light sensor signal circuit in determining if the Daytime Running Lights or primary headlamps should be activated.
The issue can be fixed via a software update for the BCM. The software update may be available via an over-the-air (OTA) programming event, and as such, customers are encouraged to monitor their vehicle infotainment system for possible software updates.
Notably, this issue (and the related fix) is also present for several other GM full-size SUVs, including the 2022 GMC Yukon, 2022 Chevy Tahoe, and 2022 Chevy Suburban, per previous GM Authority coverage.
The 2022 Cadillac Escalade is the second model year for the latest fifth-gen SUV, introducing a few changes and updates relative to the all-new 2021 model year. Powertrain options once again include the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine, rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Both engines connect to the GM 10-speed automatic transmission.
Under the body panels, the 2022 Cadillac Escalade rides on the GM T1 platform. Production takes place at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.
In further Escalade-related news, the 2023 Cadillac Escalade Onyx Package is once again available to order, as GM Authority recently covered.
