Production of the current-generation Chevy Trax subcompact crossover will soon end, and GM Authority has learned that the last 2022 Chevy Trax units will be built on November 30th, 2022 at the GM Bupyeong plant in Korea.
Back in March, GM Authority exclusively reported that GM had decided to axe the Trax after the 2022 model year. During the 2021 calendar year, Chevy Trax sales fell almost 60 percent compared to 2020, while the segment average rose almost 10 percent. The Trax arrived in the United States as a 2015 model, but was initially launched in other markets, including Canada, for the 2013 model year.
The following month, GM announced that it would release an all-new Chevy Trax later in the year, set to kick off in early 2023. Sources close to GM Authority revealed that development of this new Trax was led by the GM Korea subsidiary and the Trax would slot in between the current Chevy Trailblazer and Chevy Tracker crossovers, the latter of which is sold in Mexico, South America, and China.
Then, in mid-October, GM finally pulled the sheets off the new-generation crossover. The 2024 Chevy Trax incorporates Chevy’s latest ICE-based design language, taking after the Chevy Blazer crossover. The upcoming Trax also boasts new exterior dimensions that are longer, lower, and wider than the outgoing generation.
It’s worth noting just how similar the 2024 Chevy Trax is to the 2023 Chevy Seeker recently introduced in China, confirming previous GM Authority reports that the new Chevy Seeker is coming to North America after all.
Production of the Chevy Trax’s corporate cousin, the Buick Encore, is also scheduled to end on November 30th. Unlike the Trax, no direct replacement for the Encore has been announced yet. However, the all-new Buick Envista crossover, which is now on sale in China, is under consideration for the North American market, as GM Authority exclusively reported.
As a reminder, the 2022 Chevy Trax is equipped with the turbocharged 1.4L I4 LE2 gasoline engine, which develops 155 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque, sent to either a front-wheel or all-wheel drivetrain through GM’s six-speed automatic transmission. The all-new 2024 Chevy Trax is powered by the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, which produces 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired to the GM six-speed automatic transmission, feeding the front wheels exclusively. Under the skin, the 2024 Chevy Trax rides on the GM VSS-F vehicle set.
Pricing for the 2024 Chevy Trax starts at $21,495, destination freight charge included. Notably, the 2024 Chevy Trax costs less than a 2022 Chevy Trax.

Having worked 31 years for GM, I’ve never understood their vehicle strategy.
Considered leasing 2024 Trax, until discovering all wheel drive is no longer available. Customer must look to next in line, Trailblazer for AWD, which costs more. GM will alienate new and existing customers desiring AWD for 2024 Trax, discovering it’s no longer available.
Those of us in snow belt who don’t want 4×4 truck, look to SUVS with AWD.
Well, chevy needs to dump this design and create a more modern version of the chevy trax with an 8 speed trans and more power than the lethargic versions its previously had.i also suggest that chevy stop this plastics gone wild look and make an attractive and more appealing to all janras of people. I think chevy is more capable of putting out better products than these unrefined and worthless designs that chevy has been putting out like the sonic and spark that was a constant disappointment.chevy please bring out cars and trucks that make sense you did better in the 80s and 90s with the z28,trans am, grand national. Etc. Imagination and innovation gies a long way. If you made a great looking chevy trax sales would explode I see the equinox is getting better though I didn’t like the base or LT equinox interiors not great please bring out better and more competitive versions with 8sp not 6sp trans and possibly 195 hp.or better.
R Maves… Think of the new Trax as a small station wagon like the old caviler, escort, or whatever dodge offered way back when… Not everyone needs AWD if you you need it there is the Trailblazer besides this little CUV Trax will be awesome on MPG’s without AWD! It looks nice to.
The actual Chevy Trax is Great and reliable, dont need to change just modify. I owned a 2017 and now a 2021 LT. Never had a mechanical problem and I drive a lot, more than 100 miles a day. To take it from 4 cyl. To 3 cyl. Losing horsepower I think it is a mistake.
I have a 2017 Chevy trax and I love it, its great SUV I like the size of it, Only thing it needs a little more horsepower For the engine but otherwise it’s a great S UV
