Here Are The 2023 Chevy Blazer Towing Capacities

The 2023 Chevy Blazer is the fifth model year for the current-generation crossover, introducing a model refresh that debuts several important updates and changes. Now, we’re taking another look at the refreshed 2023 Chevy Blazer with the following GM Authority towing capacity spec breakdown.

Let’s kick things off with a quick look at what’s under the hood. The 2023 Chevy Blazer is available with two engine options, starting with the base-level turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, which is rated at 228 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 258 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm, and included as standard for 2LT, 3LT, and Premier trim levels. The up-level option is the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, which is rated at 308 horsepower at 6,700 rpm and 270 pound-feet of torque at 5,000 rpm, and is offered as optional for 3LT and Premier trims, and included as standard for the RS trim.

Both engines mate to the GM 9-speed automatic transmission, with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive on hand to put the power down.

What’s more, 2023 Chevy Blazer customers can also upgrade their crossover with the optional Trailering Equipment Package. Tagged with RPO code V92, the Trailering Equipment Package adds in a number of important bits and pieces that increase the Blazer’s overall max trailer weigh rating.

So then, with that covered, let’s check out the 2023 Chevy Blazer towing capacities:

As we can see, 2023 Chevy Blazer models with the highest overall max trailer weight rating are those equipped with the 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine and V92 Trailering Equipment Package, rated at 4,500 pounds. Models with the lowest overall max trailer weight rating are those without the V92 Trailering Equipment Package, which brings the rating down to 1,500 pounds, regardless of the powerplant selected.

To note, the 2023 Chevy Blazer has a lower overall max trailer weight rating compared to the preceding 2022 model year when both models are equipped with the 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine and V92 Trailering Equipment Package, falling from 3,500 pounds for the 2022 model year to 3,250 pounds for the 2023 model year.

As a reminder, the 2023 Chevy Blazer rides on the GM C1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico.

  3. It would be nice if GM put the 2.8 turbo diesel and the best transmission so we could have an suv in this size, like the old Trailblazer, to tow with. Or turn the Colorado into an suv.
