The 2022 Chevy Express represents the 19th model year of the nameplate. The full-size passenger and cargo vans both ride on the GM GMT 610 platform and offer identical powertrain options, which include the 4.3L V6 LV1 and 6.6L V8 L8T V8 gasoline engines along with the 2.8L I4 LWN turbo-diesel Duramax engine. For the 2023 model year, the Express and its corporate twin, the GMC Savana, will continue with minimal changes, although both will drop the optional turbo-diesel. Production of the 2023 Express and Savana began at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri on August 15th.

The 2023 Chevy Express also gets a substantial price increase over the 2022 model. For the 20th model year for the workhorse van, this price hike is applied across the board in terms of body configuration and powertrain, and includes a $100 increase to the destination freight charge (DFC), which is now up to $1,795 from $1,695.

The Express and Savana will likely be put to pasture at the end of the 2025 model year with all-electric replacements rumored for a 2026 debut.

  1. Zero change in these vans in 20 years. Not even a GPS. Very disappointing. Had a 2022 traded it of for a Ford transit, was kinda like driving a horse and buggy.

    1. Ugly European vans 🙁

    2. I have a ford transit.
Biggest mistake ever. You had better buy a used van as a backup because your transit will spend more time in the shop than on the road.
GM old van because it’s tried tested and true.

    3. You exaggerate – yes, the chassis remains the same but new engines and new transmissions plus all the new safety options. I’ll take the much better power and towing capability plus likely better reliability.

      1. Maybe new engine but tranny is still a 6L80 or maybe a 6L90 like it was in 2012

  2. Well I have a 2017 Express with a GPS.But I do think it’s crazy you can buy a pickup with all kinds of options and you can’t even get LED headlights on an express
