Cadillac Live Studio To Host 120th Anniversary Tours

Last August, Cadillac turned 120 years old. To commemorate this milestone, Cadillac will host two 120th anniversary tours, featuring a Lyriq on November 2nd and an Escalade-V on November 3rd. Details can be found on Cadillac’s website.

Founded on August 22nd, 1902, Cadillac is GM’s second oldest automotive brand after Buick. Historically known as the Standard of the World, and for debuting cutting edge technologies, Cadillac will provide these tours to remind prospective customers of its current offerings and its storied history.

First up is the Cadillac Lyriq 120th Anniversary Tour. Taking place on November 2nd, Cadillac will complement its first-ever EV with a showcase of the first-ever vehicle to feature an electric starter, the 1912 Cadillac. Prior to this invention, all vehicles had to be hand-cranked. Additionally, Cadillac reminds us that it was the first to standard-fit all its models with power steering. This reminder is a nod to Super Cruise, GM’s autonomous driving system.

Next up is the Cadillac Escalade-V 120th Anniversary Tour. Taking place on November 3rd, Cadillac draws similarities to the Escalade’s power and styling by also showcasing the 1964 Cadillac Series 62 Coupe and the 1959 Eldorado Biarritz. The Series 62 Coupe serves to demonstrate Cadillac’s history of providing powerful V8s in stylish cars, while the Eldorado provides visual styling cues that the Escalade uses as inspiration.

As a reminder, the Lyriq and Escalade currently serve as Cadillac’s halo vehicles. The Lyriq provides a forward vision of Cadillac’s future, while the Escalade reminds customers of Cadillac’s history of big V8s and bold styling.

The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is powered by GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium Drive motors, which produces 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque for RWD models as well as 500 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque for AWD models. Under the skin, the mid-size luxury crossover rides on the GM BEV3 platform.

Meanwhile, the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V is powered by the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, which produces 682 horsepower and 653 pound-feet of torque. Under the skin, the full-size luxury SUV rides on the GM T1 platform.

  1. If the electric starter was not invented by Dr. Kettering for Cadillac, we would be driving electric cars much sooner. EV haters cannot deny the need of an electric motor, since none of them can hand crank their engines without it.

  2. Seeing as this is a celebration supposedly of the “State of the ART”, how about recovering a bit of ART from Cadillac’s marketing department?

Whomever thought the BLACK and WHITE escutcheon plates on the cars and vapid Marketing Artwork looks ‘Trendy’ probably thinks that COLOR TVs came out first and were replaced with “Blanc-Noir” TV sets..

I have a new LYRIQ on order – due to be built next week and I’ll receive it in January or February (only a 15 month wait due to GM not understanding how to run a Production Line). I like the car since it is relatively cheap , is a decent size, and it can go somewhere if it has around an EPA 312 mile rating.

Looks like a late 1950’s Chrysler to me – but that is acceptable… I remember the ‘look’ of those cars..

    1. They are awaiting the battery factory, first of four, to come online in Ohio. Otherwise you’ll get a LG battery from Korea.
