Below, we’ve included sales figures of full-size luxury crossovers for the sake of reference. Though they differ mechanically from the aforementioned body-on-frame SUVs by having a unibody construction, they are typically cross-shopped and considered as alternatives to the full-size luxury SUVs. Currently, the only full-size luxury crossovers are the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, the BMW X7, and Land Rover Range Rover, with Audi rumored to be working on a future Q9 that would slot into this space.

However, it should be noted that the 2,500 percent leap in Grand Wagoneer sales skewed the overall trend of the full-size luxury SUV segment. Taking the newcomer out of the mix reflects a more accurate picture, with segment sales performance pretty much flat for Q3 2022. That means Escalade sales essentially matched the segment average.
The GM Authority Take
Cadillac Escalade sales in the third quarter of 2022 slipped on a year-over-year basis, but the full-size luxury SUV still commanded its segment with a 55 percent share. The Escalade ESV alone outsold the Escalade’s next nearest competitor, the Lincoln Navigator. The slight decrease in Escalade sales are the result of supply difficulties, with the ongoing global semiconductor microchip shortage and parts supply issues disrupting the automotive industry as a whole.
As GM addresses those challenges in order to build enough vehicles to meet demand, the automaker continues raising the bar with the new supercharged 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V. This high-performance variant boasts the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, rated at 682 horsepower and 653 pound-feet of torque. Output is routed through the an updated GM 10-speed automatic transmission and fed to a full-time four-wheel drive system, yielding a sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. For its part competitor Lincoln says it won’t offer a performance-upgraded Navigator to compete with the Cadillac Escalade-V.
Dealers started taking orders for the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V on May 19th and production of all 2023 Escalade models began on July 18th, 2022.
All trim levels of the full-size luxury SUV feature exclusive, first-to-market technology advances including a curved Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) screen, the first AKG automotive audio system, and GM’s acclaimed Super Cruise driver assistance technology.
The space in which the Escalade competes is a significant profit center for all participants, and the competition isn’t sitting still. This past spring Jeep added the Grand Wagoneer L to its stable to compete against the extended-length Escalade ESV. And earlier this month, BMW unveiled the refreshed 2023 BMW Alpina XB7 as a high-performance rival for the Cadillac Escalade-V. But the Alpina variant and “regular” BMW X7 are both unibody crossovers that serve as indirect competitors to the body-on-frame Escalade, as noted above.
Rivals may try to answer the Escalade with their own luxury and performance offerings, but sales show and a recent comparison test confirm that the Cadillac Escalade continues to beat key competitors. The class-leading Escalade-V is yet another salvo from Cadillac.

Could the Cadillac Escalade sales decrease from North America countries be from GM shipping some of these SUVs to overseas markets like the Middle East, I understand GM gets a very healthy premium from the oil rich countries. Just asking.
With Escalade and Yukon GM has a home run hitter. It’s a masculine vehicle. The rest of their SUV line-up look feminine and as a result don’t sell. I love my Yukon Denali and will look at an Escalade next. Once I go to a two row SUV I will look elsewhere to Range Rover or Porsche.
I put in a request to Cadillac to consider offering the 60 / 40 split bench seat as a front seat option in the Escalades besides the sole bucket seats and center console. I have a 60 / 40 split front bench seat in my GMC Suburban and it is extremely comfortable and roomy, versus the limited wiggle room bucket seats. Cadillac filed my customer suggestion under case number 9-8537502626.
I suggest those desiring the large 60 / 40 split bench seat in the front. contact Cadillac on their website and request the same.
