Bear Attempts To Steal Cheetos From GMC Sierra, Gets Scolded: Video

Black bears can be found pretty much everywhere in the United States. Often, they will leave their natural habitats and trek into a town or suburb, looking for an easy snack. Unfortunately for some, this puts the bears in close contact with humans, which is what happened to this unlucky GMC Sierra owner.

A recently-uploaded video shows a black bear successfully break into a current, fourth-generation GMC Sierra by casually pulling open the truck’s driver’s side door. Taking place at South Lake Tahoe, California, the bear was after a bag of Cheetos located in the center console, and if it weren’t for a local driver, the bear may have done permanent damage to the truck.

According to the video description, a local named Marissa has been around bears her entire life. She believes if she hadn’t confronted the bear face-to-face and told it to scurry, the bear would’ve done serious damage to the GMC Sierra. The video shows just how close Marissa got to the bear, coming with arm’s reach when confronting the animal.

While this video is humorous, as the bear seems more confused than alarmed, it’s probably not a great idea to confront a bear, or any wild animal for that matter, unless one has sufficient experience in doing so. Wildlife specialists suggest residents and tourists never feed or place food to attract bears and to never leave food in their car or coolers outside. Grills and picnic tables should also never be left unattended, and trash should be placed in animal-resistant trashcans and dumpsters only.

Thankfully, in this video, the black bear decides the woman isn’t worth the trouble, and instead runs away without doing any damage, even leaving the Cheetos as the animal exited stage left. Marissa got lucky, as the bear could’ve easily decided to pounce due to being frightened. Watch just below:

  1. That was a really dangerous situation.

If the bear lingered any longer then she could’ve eaten him.

  4. I enjoy seeing wildlife in my neighborhood. This is next-level stupid. Of course, good practices such as removing food from the vehicle and locking the doors doesn’t make for an interesting video.

  5. The poor bear was just wanting to check out a “well equipped / fully loaded” Sierra truck,
uh…in the Sierra Mountain range at Lake Tahoe.

  6. I cannot believe the stupidity of some people. What would she have done if the bear decide to chase her ? Humans run at 7 miles per hour . . . bears go 35 mph — result = human becomes lunch.
