The GMC Sierra HD range, which consists of the Sierra 2500 HD and Sierra 3500 HD, is receiving a major refresh for the 2024 model year. Announced just last week, the updates incorporate a new front fascia, new tail lamps, an overhauled interior, along with noteworthy powertrain and capability upgrades. Today, we’re taking a closer look at the 2024 GMC Sierra HD Denali Ultimate in the following GM Authority spotlight.
The 2024 GMC Sierra HD trim lineup, from bottom to top, consists of Pro, SLE, SLT, AT4, Denali and Denali Ultimate. In addition, the Sierra HD AT4X trim will arrive later on in the model year. The Denali Ultimate trim level, meanwhile, slots in at the top of the range, offering GMC’s most advanced and luxurious heavy duty pickup to date.
On the outside, the 2024 Sierra HD Denali Ultimate features a unique grille and GMC badging in Vader Chrome at the front, standard power assist steps on the sides, and the GMC MultiPro Tailgate out back. The pickup rides on trim-exclusive 20-inch Ultra-Bright Machined Aluminum Wheels with High Gloss Black accents, which are available only for single rear wheel models.
Inside, the 2024 Sierra HD Denali Ultimate gets an all-new cockpit, just like most lower 2024 Sierra HD trims. The new interior is headlined by the 13.4-inch diagonal center touchscreen and a 12.3-inch diagonal digital driver information center. A multicolor 15-inch Head-Up Display (HUD) is standard on the Sierra HD Denali Ultimate (optional on the “regular” Denali).
In addition, the Sierra HD Denali Ultimate gets an exclusive full-grain leather appointment and open-pore Paldao wood, all-new 16-way power-adjustable and massaging front seats, premium microsuede headliner, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, and a standard power sunroof.
All 2024 GMC Sierra HD models, including the Sierra HD Denali Ultimate, will ship as standard with the GMC Pro Safety suite of driver assistance technologies, which contains:
- Forward Collision Alert
- Lane Departure Warning
- Emergency Automatic Braking
- Front Pedestrian Braking (new for 2024)
- IntelliBeam auto high beams
- Following Distance Indicator
The Pro Safety Plus package will also be available. It includes additional driver assistance features like Rear Cross Traffic Braking and the Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert.
As for the powertrain options, the 2024 GMC Sierra HD Denali Ultimate will only be offered with one engine configuration – the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine, which will be uprated to 470 horsepower and 975 pound-feet of torque for the 2024 model year, as compared to the 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque produced prior to the refresh.
This engine will pair with the Allison-branded ten-speed automatic transmission. Official pricing details are expected closer to the start of production, set to start during the first quarter of 2023

Nice truck! I wouldn’t mind the price if it was paying my bills but too expensive for a garage queen grocery getter, which is what happens to many of them. The show offs used to be satisfied with dolled-up half tons, but now they have to have 3/4 tons with diesels. They have driven the price of trucks to the moon. The good part is if you can find these used, they usually aren’t hurt because they aren’t worked.
True!
You are bang on with your comment Stan. I could see having all the options if you are pulling a personal trailer of some sort, but as a WORK truck !?? Also you are right about the “garage queen grocery getter”, lol. In the end , I guess everyone can buy whatever they want, price0 be damned.
I beg to differ. I now own a 2020 Chevy High Country 2500 Diesel. I use daily for my lawn business & for snow removal. Why not be comfortable while working. When available ill probably buy the 2024 Denali & use for work as well. So ill show off with my new Denali, cut lawns, plow snow & be comfortable. So there. Don’t be a hater.
Yup, it’s America and we can buy what we want and can afford, for now.
Can’t afford , in Brandon s America.
None of you will probably ever have to worry about this truck. GM can’t fulfill the 2022 orders they have out as of now. I might never see my 2023 ultimate I have on order and now the are talking about a EV Denali and this this…. yeah right!!! GM needs to slow their role and get out of the weeds with what they have going on, get things back in stock so that a $85000 truck doesn’t come with out parking sensors. You know the saying…writing checks the bank can’t cash!!
I’m going to sit back and wait for a used 2024. Between the prices of these trucks and soaring interest rates along with insane inflation. I don’t think it will take to long for someone to realize that a $1,500 payment for 72 months was just not a good choice and if you live in the North East they are rotted out in 7-8 years. Beautiful truck tho
I currently own a 2018 GMC Sierra 2500 Denali Duramax. I’m looking strong at the 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 Denali Duramax for my next truck. Biggest problem I see is exterior colors. All seem to be on the darker side with none of them beng available in light colors such as Quicksilver Metallic (my current truck), Summit White, etc. Living in the midwest (4 seasons) vehicle’s appear best in light color’s. Simply, they don’t show the dirt in comparison. Darker colors always look awesome after a great wash but, only for a day or two. Impossible to keep clean unless you park them. My point, GM should at least offer these trucks in a lighter colors. This is something buyer’s look at, especially those of us that live in the midwest. Personally, I would love to see Quicksilver Metallic with that Vader Trim.
We have one arriving 4.10. 23. Brookhaven,ms
