Making its debut early this year, the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV is a watershed moment for the Silverado nameplate, introducing an all-new, all-electric variant of the highly popular pickup. Now, as production nears, the first units of the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV units will notably be available in one of just two colors.
For those readers who may be unaware, the first Chevy Silverado EV units built will be for fleets only, and initially offered in the Work Truck (WT) configuration. These models will only be offered with two exterior paint options, specifically Summit White (paint code GAZ) and Black (paint code GBA). That said, Black will only be available later in the 2024 model year. As such, the first units of the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV will all be finished in Summit White paint.
Making its big debut at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show, GM initially unveiled two trim levels for the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV, including the fleet-oriented WT, as well as the well-equipped RST First Edition. The all-electric pickup is based on the automaker’s all-electric BT1 platform, and utilizes GM Ultium battery technology and GM Ultium drive motor technology. Production is set to kick off at the GM Factory Zero plant in Michigan next year.
A battery pack with up to 24 modules forms a fundamental component of the vehicle’s overall structure, and provides enough juice to cover 400 miles between plugs. Additionally, the Chevy Silverado EV will offer bidrectional charging capabilities, which means it can provide energy back to a properly equipped home if needed.
Back in July, GM stated that it had accumulated more than 150,000 reservations for the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV, up from 110,000 reservations in February. Notably, 65 percent of reservation holders are so-called “conquest” customers, or rather customers who have never purchased or owned a Chevy vehicle in the past. That said, one study suggests that few of these reservation holders intend on actually buying the vehicle once it becomes available.

Ugly.
ugly, looks like the old avalanche. I have a Bolt EUV and a X5 45e PHEV hybrid and other ICE GM tucks and cars. I want a GM PHEV truck ! please make one. I had to go BMW PHEV for towing 7000lbs as GM does not offer a PHEV truck.
If anyone will do a PHEV truck it’ll be Ram (4xe Wagoneer is coming) or Toyota (their “prime” strategy could work on the Tundra and Tacoma).
The new Corvette E-Ray should be the starting point for what is possible with a Chevy or GMC Truck- PHEV , 2 Engine choices, with the ladder being found from the upcoming Corvette version, it’s also good to know that gm has another round of new V8’s set for production just in time for the 2025 gm Trucks, maybe we could get a surprise with a Hybrid Power Train option by then.
2 colors, with one not available means 1 color, right?
No, they give you a $50 rebate with a later retrofit included.
We have one reserved…it will replace our Avalanche for local pickup and delivery…look forward to its arrival.
Very dirty and ugly looking all blacked out.
These electrics should do very well in Arizona, California, or any other nice dry, road salt free area. I would like to know how these things stand up to 16 hr days driving on road salted roads in the northeast.
What the electric blue color that on the commercials is that color just for the sopranos ?
That’s an RST, which won’t be out until the fall of next year.
Aiming at the color blind population first. Focus groups show they realllllllly want EV’s!!
Read it more carefully.
Beautiful looking Silverado!! Chevy 4 life❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍😍😍
Ok, hands up!!!! Who had to read the article without guessing the colors were black and white.
They had one in Silver for it’s initial introduction, nothing special about that color so they could have included that one for the option too IMO.
Range when towing? Eight-lug wheels, so presumably some real capacity? Time to recharge? Energy to recharge?
8-lug wheels because it weighs 5 tons empty!
That’s legit. I know the Hummer is >9k empty, so 10k isn’t a stretch for a “Work Truck.” 4k of truck and 6k of batteries. They’re going to be expensive to recharge, and take hours and hours, even with the fastest charger.
All that info is out there, just do a little research🤷♂️
The entire truck needs a new design.
The front end is weird, the side view is the best part, and the rear is hideous.
Literally just an updated avalanche… Would be better with a hat engine with no dod.
I’m glad they made the body different than the real Silverado so there’s no mistaking it.
Keeping in original Avalanche style too, is the over abundance of Fisher – Price gray and black plastic that will look like hell after a few years in the sun. Adding to the totally cheaped out look too. I understand this is a w/t, but is it honestly asking too much to paint some of the plastic? This generation of trucks should also have been aluminum bodied. I wonder how long it will take to see these things loaded up with rust. Sometimes it is quite difficult to be a GM enthusiast. These EV’s are just a money grab.
Looks like all 2022-2023 hummer ev models are under reacall for potential of unsecured lid on batteries that can allow water to get into battery pacs. Recall number 22V-771. Gm just cant produce a quality product anymore. Such a shame.
for whatever they will cost, it will be cheaper is to put gas in my 05 2500 8.1 avalanche
Does WT come with a 2×4 or 4×4 drive train?
