2023 GMC Yukon Gets New Sterling Metallic Color: First Look

The 2023 GMC Yukon and extended-length Yukon XL add four new exterior colors to their palette: Titanium Rush Metallic, Frosted Pine Metallic, Volcanic Red Tintcoat, and Sterling Metallic. Here’s our first look at the new Sterling hue.

Assigned RPO code GXD and touch-up paint code WA-130H, Sterling Metallic is one of 10 exterior colors offered on the full-size SUV, which include:

  • Midnight Blue Metallic
  • Onyx Black
  • Pearl Beige Metallic
  • Redwood Metallic
  • Summit White
  • White Frost Tricoat
  • Titanium Rush Metallic (new for 2023)
  • Frosted Pine Metallic (new for 2023)
  • Volcanic Red Tintcoat (new for 2023)
  • Sterling Metallic (new for 2023)

Sterling Metallic is an extra-cost item that adds an additional $495 to the SUV’s price and is available on all trim levels. It can be combined with all Yukon interior colorways.

For reference, here are all five available interior colorways offered on the 2023 Yukon:

  • Alpine Umber
  • Dark Walnut/Slate
  • Dark Walnut/Very Dark Ash Gray
  • Jet Black
  • Teak/Light Shale

One of the major changes applied to the 2023 GMC Yukon is the introduction of the Denali Ultimate trim level, which the automaker describes as the “most premium Yukon ever offered.” Highlights of this new trim include unique Vader Chrome exterior accents, model-specific 22-inch wheels, Alpine Umber full-grain leather upholstery, and genuine Paldao woodgrain interior trim. The GM Super Cruise driver assist system is also offered as an optional upgrade.

As a reminder, the 2023 GMC Yukon is available with three engine options, including the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, rated at 355 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 383 pound-feet of torque at 4,100 rpm, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, rated at 420 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 460 pound-feet of torque at 4,100 rpm, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax, rated at 277 horsepower at 3,750 rpm and 460 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm. All three engine options connect to the GM 10-speed automatic transmission.

The fifth-generation GMC Yukon rides on the GM T1 platform. Production for the 2023 GMC Yukon kicked off at the GM Arlington plant in Texas on July 18th, 2022. The online configurator tool is now live for the 2023 Yukon.

  2. Oh boy, another shade of gray. Well if the buyers like it, might as well give it to them.

    1. They always have some kind of silver on the color palette, and actually, this one covers covers both silver, and gray colors. So those who abhor those two colors should be happy that this one covers both colors, -and allows for another color on the palette.
