2023 GMC Canyon AT4X Edition 1: Live Photo Gallery

GM pulled the sheets on the all-new third-generation 2023 GMC Canyon in August, showing off a new exterior design, an overhauled cabin space, a new powertrain, and a wealth of modern tech features. In addition, the third-gen 2023 GMC Canyon also introduces the new Canyon AT4X trim level, and now, we’re getting a look at the new 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X Edition 1 in the following GM Authority Live Photo Gallery.

For those readers who may be unaware, the new-for-2023 Canyon AT4X adds a number of off-roading features to the already capable Canyon AT4, with the AT4X Edition 1 package taking it a step further with even more standard equipment.

This particular model is finished in Volcanic Red Tintcoat (paint code GNT), and is running all the usual 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X gear. Highlights include a 1-inch suspension lift with Multimatic DSSV dampers, plus knobby 33-inch tires. A set of underbody skid plates protects the greasy bits, while front and rear e-lockers help the drivetrain find the grip. Further standard features include a Baja drive mode and the Obsidian Rush colorway with Ceramic White accents in the cabin.

The Edition 1 package adds to this with goodies like an underbody camera system and off-road bumper with a safari bar, plus a reconfigurable bed rail system, performance front skid plate, and a grille-mounted 30-inch off-road light bar. And of course, we can’t forget the requisite Edition 1 badging.

This particular example is also notable for leaving out a few important items normally equipped as standard on Edition 1 models, namely the front-mounted winch and 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels. Instead, this particular model is equipped with the “regular” AT4X 17-inch alloy wheels.

All 2023 GMC Canyon models are equipped as standard with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque in the top-rated High Output tune. Four-wheel drive is standard for the AT4X trim.

The new 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X is set to hit production in the spring of 2023, following the start of regular production on January 25th. Production will take place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri. Pricing for the Canyon AT4X Edition 1 starts at $63,350.

  3. Great looking truck but the price is going to kill this one. $61,000 is just way too much for a small 4 cylinder truck.

I hope it sells but too often on the Colorado web site most refuse to spend much over $40K. Most are sold in the mid to low $30K range.

    1. That was the argument I noticed and saw for years, but that was pre-covid, pre-parts shortage, pre-supply issues and pre-crazy inflation. With the Sierra pushing 40k as a base price a well equipped midsize above 40k will be enticing to more and is no longer way too much. 60k, yes, 50k though is no longer scary to the midsize market especially these days. Maybe a few years down the road if big discounts make a return and fully stocked lots then year, that may change again. But prices go up and tend to stay there, same will go for the vehicles.

      1. There is a mind set in the mid size class and only a few will pay more. The majority of the mid size trucks sold by GM were even stickered below $40k.

        They were sold $35-39k.

Full size trucks people are more open minded and will easily pay more but there are limits.

To be honest if you looked at this years numbers sales are way down on the mid size as there just was so many few built.

  5. Good thing all the complainers can go find a stripped 2wd model as well that will be well under $40k. And if that’s too high, go find a Colorado WT.

The limited edition model shown here is a bargain at $61k. It offers a ton of features you can’t get elsewhere and is a better bargain than a Gladiator. And based on reviews of the old Colorado against the Gladiator, this will be a far better truck.

    1. For sure it is a great truck but people just are limited to what they will pay for a mid size. They may fool me but I expect this will be a very low volume model.
