2023 Corvette Z06 Coupe In Red Mist: First Live Photos

The 2023 Corvette Z06 has amassed a huge following since Chevy first revealed the high performance machine. The unique, naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 engine has been the reason for a lot of that interest, since it’s the world’s most powerful naturally-aspirated V8 in a production car. Many fans, enthusiasts and observers have been salivating to see Chevy’s new track monster in all of its colors, and what we have for you here today is the C8 Z06 in the tasteful Red Mist hue.

GM Authority has captured these exclusive photos of the C8 Z06 in the Red Mist color (color code GPH). The model seen here is the 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 Coupe (as opposed to the hardtop Convertible) riding on what appear to be Spider design forged aluminum wheels finished in Satin Graphite (RPO Code SOC). The rollers are hiding a set of Bright Red Calipers (J6F). It’s worth noting that the Edge Red (J6N) caliper option is no longer available.

This Red Mist unit is equipped with the shiny exhaust tips, which are standard on the C8 Z06. However, black exhaust tips are available as an option, like on the Rapid Blue C8 Z06 we showed you yesterday.

For the 2023 Corvette Z06, the Red Mist hue is available with four interior colorways, but not four others.

Available interior colorways:

  • Jet Black
  • Sky Cool Gray
  • Natural
  • Natural Dipped

Not available interior colorways:

  • Adrenaline Red
  • Adrenaline Red Dipped
  • Ceramic White with Red stitching
  • Tension Blue / Twilight Blue Dipped

Chevy has been struggling with parts constraints stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, and – as GM Authority was the first to report – orders for the 2023 Corvette Z06 have been heavily limited, further adding to the rarity of this desirable performance machine. In fact, the C8 Z06 is currently unavailable to order for the 2023 model year.

As a result of this, among those who were able to place an order, there’s been a huge demand for option-rich builds. As GM Authority reported in September, a majority of 2023 Corvette Z06 buyers are optioning the car to the gills.

As a reminder, the 2023 Corvette Z06 is equipped as standard with the naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 gasoline engine rated at a whopping 670 horses and 460 pound-feet of torque. Under the skin is the GM Y2 platform that unpins all C8 Corvettes, while production takes place at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky.

  1. You can call me a whiner, a jealous wanna be, a loser. But with all of the difficulties of bringing this particular vehicle to the consumer, I just don’t care anymore.
The standard C8 is a fantastic car, to drive, to own, to have, to service.
Plenty of available parts, easy to take care of.
The C8 is practical, affordable, and it seems available for purchase.
    I’ll have a regular C8 .
Good luck to you few who get the Unicorn.

    1. How well I know! My 22 HTC red mist tri- coat, Stirling silver strips and sky cool grey interior always gets more attention at local get togethers. We are very happy with it and just don’t need that extra horsepower that can only be used at a track! Tomg

    2. Agree, picked up mine and was not impressed w/the pix; went to the show rm and seen a whole different animal which I brought home and ‘barned.’ Great veihle; only thing missing is the additional horses that come w/the ZO6. …not wealthy but have to have one of those.

  3. I am still on two lists, for what that’s worth, but didn’t get on my first list until early 2021. That’s putting me at year 3 or 4 with GM’s sh!t show (originally guesstimated to be year 2 or 3). I’m at the point where I don’t care anymore either.

  5. Oh good grief, here we go again…more “pictures taken in real life road conditions”…yeah right. Driven by GM engineers or whomever that has a job of driving these cars around town, making sure that someone captures a picture of the Z06 being driven “on city streets” (with always just the right timing too, imagine that) just to make sure we all know that there is more than just a few actual Z06’s running around, in selected locations of course. Yawn….it’s time guys, lets actually make the few of these that you said you’d be building for the well heeled pubic and to the dealers for their outrageous MSRP markups so that we mere mortals with older “less worthy” Corvette’s can actually see for ourselves that these particular C8’s actually do exist “in public places, driven by actual proud new owners”!
Still, no actual “road test results” by qualified automotive editors, no actual up to date (not guessed by some GM exec) performance facts and figures (“timed events”) info has been released yet, and who knows what became of those thousand laps of “The Ring” in Germany facts and figures, nothing to tell, yet…I wonder, if they were truly “amazing” lap times don’t you think we’d have heard about it already!
As a long time Corvette owner, I’m a patient guy, I know it takes time to “get it just right”….but this constant dangling of the proverbial carrot in front of all of us is wearing my patients thin. When it’s really, really time to “unleash the beast” then fine, but in the meantime, come on guys…stop with pretty color pictures taken near the GM Tech Center or near the Bowling Green Assembly Plant, pictures of whom ever is chosen to simply drive around in circles wasting gas in a dismal effort to keep our interest up on this car while we wait so patiently for them to actually be produced for actual sale to the public. I can agree though, that the “Base C8 Corvette” despite it’s raising cost is still one hell of a bargain and can be made even more tantalizing by adding some “Goodies” to it, as if it’s really needed.
I may forget, no…may that will “forget” about ever getting a Z06 and just give in and go looking for a Base C8, but nicely loaded, and just keep the Classic ‘Vette for Special Events and use the C8 for every day fun jaunts. In the meantime, I guess Chevy will continue to throw out pretty pictures of a select few Z06’s to all of us Corvette owners so that we don’t lose interest in this car…nice try Chevy, when you decide to “get serious” and build and sell an actual Z06 for public ownership, let us know, okay? I’ll be looking forward to an actual road test by auto editors with test equipment to see if all of this hype about this car is factual, or just some fancy pipe dream that sounds amazing, looks fantastic and will cost a kings ransom.
Time (the clocks still ticking, Chevy) will tell I guess…’Nuff said.

  6. This is it guys. The days of the Chevy Corvette being affordable (or semi-affordable) are over. GM and the greedy dealerships have officially placed this car in a higher tier and category. Some of the blame does need to go to previous owners who wanted to make a profit but regardless, the whole thing is just unfortunate………and I was going to be a first time Corvette owner thanks to the new design but not until about 3 years of aggressive saving.

  8. Seems to me people are following a lot of hype I like the C8 fine however I own a C6 ZO6 which has more horsepower and same torque as the base model C8 and still more torque than the new ZO6 Grant it both cars are faster 0 to 60 because of more traction however we are driving on a street unless we actually go to a track what good are all the statistics really just bragging rights my C6 Z06 is a rocket itself so really we’re just buying statistics that are not usable at least not most of the time or hardly ever certainly not usable on the street and really I think General Motors is going to turn off a lot more people than they think with this so-called Electric Car Technology I for one don’t want one and I’m thinking of maybe other companies to buy a vehicle from because of it it probably GM will go broke again and of course get another bailout electric car is a pie in the sky dream in reality not really workable in a practical sense
