2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Still Available To Order For Now

UPDATE: Following the publication of this article, GM provided us with the following statement: “2023 CT5-V Blackwing sedan continues to be in very high demand, while production remains extremely limited. Cadillac is still accepting orders for the 2023 CT5-V Blackwing at this time.”

The 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is the ferocious big brother to the equally-outstanding Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing. Both Cadillac super sedans offer herculean-levels of performance packaged in a practical four-door layout, along with an (exclusive!) standard manual transmission. For obvious reasons, these super Caddys are highly desirable and lauded for their capabilities. The demand has reflected this, as all units are now spoken for.

GM Authority has just learned that the order books for the 2023 CT5-V Blackwing are now full. Due to the superb performance credentials and the limited quantities being produced, this doesn’t come as a surprise.

Prospective buyers will now have to wait until the 2024 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing order books open.

With regard to the 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing specifically, the high-performance sedan introduced just a few changes and updates over the 2022 model year – its first. These changes include the deletion of four exterior paint options, which were replaced with four new hues, including Radiant Red Tintcoat, Argent Silver Metallic, Midnight Steel Metallic, and Maverick Noir Frost, the latter of which had limited availability and a matte finish.

GM Authority was first to report on the upcoming mid-cycle refresh of 2024 CT5. This update will include a revamped front fascia and an overhauled cockpit in a way not unlike the upcoming 2024 Cadillac XT4, which will also be a refresh. The XT4 mid-cycle refresh will deliver a wide curved display that houses both the instrument cluster and the infotainment screen. A revised center stack will also be used to incorporate the new found display.

As a reminder, the 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing started at $92,390 with standard manual, and $95,565 for the automatic. This, as first reported by GM Authority, represented a not-insubstantial $7,000 jump compared to equivalent 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing models. Meanwhile, some options could raise this price by $9,000(!), such as the Carbon Ceramic brakes with cross-drilled rotors.

The CT5-V Blackwing features the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, rated at 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque, and exclusively powers the rear wheels. The luxury four-door super sedan rides on the GM Alpha 2 platform, which it shares with the Cadillac CT4 lineup.

Production takes place at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan alongside the standard Cadillac CT5 and Cadillac CT5-V, along with the Cadillac CT4 and CT4-V, Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and Chevy Camaro muscle car.

  1. I put in my CT5-V Blackwing deposit nearly a year ago. Between the $7000 price bump for the ’23 model year, and now this, I’ve just about lost interest…

    1. Put my deposit down March of this year. Also discouraged.

      1. I put my deposit in way back in February of 2020 and only received my MY22 CT5-V Blackwing late in July of this year. I hope you guys don’t have to wait as long.

        1. How much is a deposit. ?

          1. I believe it varies by dealer, I put down $2,000

  2. So is the CT5-V Blackwing getting all the midcycle CT5 refresh changes for 2024?

    1. The article on here a few days ago said the Blackwing does NOT get the refresh items, so…

      1. Didn’t see that, thanks

  3. So how many unit will be produced in 2023?

  4. I’m on the fence about putting down a deposit for a 23 blackwing after reading this article. Seems like the dealerships don’t know much about this news as they still are willing to take a deposit for a 23 blackwing at the moment. Maybe it’s better to just wait for a 24.

    1. My deposit was for a ’22…then ’23….and now apparently a ’24. And it seems only those at the top may know more than what we’re discussing here. Clearly the author of this piece has some kind of insider info.

      1. Really ? That’s crazy. The dealership you went to must have some answers. All this makes me very discouraged. If the availability of a car is not there then they shouldn’t take a deposit on it , just makes no sense to me then again I’m new to this and never built a car for order.

        1. My deposit got me a spot in line to await an allocation. And my desired configuration was shared with GM. That’s it. No guarantee of a car.

        2. Do you think a dealer will refuse to take your money? The average dealer often knows less than the customer.

  5. While the dealers are “neither confirming or denying” this rumor, here’s another one for you, according to my local dealer, if you want your CT5-V Blackwing with a manual, you’d better hurry. Starting with the ’24 MY, ALL of the Blackwings built will be automatics.

    1. That’s very sad news. I hope it’s not true.

  6. This article states Gm will continue to take orders until mid December but the order books are now closed and all units are spoken for. Am I missing something here. Some contradictions I would say. Maybe I don’t understand the way this works if anyone can explain.

    1. I THINK it means they’re taking extra orders in case of cancellations. (Which are rare, but do happen) Otherwise it just means they have enough orders already to continue building all the way to the end of this build year. (NO vacant build slots) Sadly, that means they’ll probably feel completely justified in doing another huge price bump for the ’24 model year. I ordered a ’22, then at dealer request, RE-ordered a ’23, & I have a feeling I’ll be RE-ordering a ’24. Or perhaps I’ll switch directions. I’ve always loved Camaros (Owned 5 of them) & 2023 is the last year for Camaro, so maybe I’ll order a ZL1 instead.

      1. Thanks for the reply, good luck with your order I guess only time will tell what will happen. I too may start looking at other options.

  7. So mid December has come and gone, no update to this article. What is the status?

  8. im done with GM…time to move on…they do not give us a answer…your spending $120000 to $140000… no answer….

  9. I’ll throw another log on this fire. One of the other customers waiting for his Blackwing at my dealer finally got his. That was the good news. Bad news was they TRUCKED it all the way across the country. This time of year that means the nose, the headlights and the windshield are all sand-pitted from the bad roads. It just barely got to the dealer and it already may need a new windshield, new headlights and a front end repaint… I suggest whenever yours arrives, you request your dealer examine the front end in extreme detail.

  10. The “Order Status” shows that my CT5-V Blackwing has been produced but my dealer is telling me that there are “parts still missing” and that it is not complete. How do I find out the actual production status?

  11. Same thing happened. My car was produced in Nov but sat in Lancing for a missing part. Got delivered last week.
Are they going to make any blackwings in 24, my brother wants one and my dealer didn’t take his order as he wasn’t sure.

    1. Yes there will be a 2024 model year, and rumor has it a “special” 2025 model year although in what way “special” nobody seems to know, or will say.

      Reply
      1. What is there to the 2025 rumor beside the word “special”?

        Reply
  12. Unfortunately, the direct quote I heard was “I cannot disclose what it is.” I’d love to know what the rumor is too, but being 2 model years away, it may very well be false, inaccurate, or perhaps even made up. That far away, I’m not trusting anything. My local salesman/friend who’s been the business for many years, insists he’s heard nothing.
