The 2023 Buick Encore GX is the fourth model year of the first-generation crossover, debuting only a handful of updates and changes compared to the 2022 model year. Now, however, the 2023Â Buick Encore GX is currently unavailable to order with all-wheel-drive (AWD).
GM Authority has learned that the Buick Encore GX’s AWD drivetrain is currently under full constraint, which means that no units will be built with AWD for the time being. Furthermore, this constrain will reach 40 percent later this year, meaning that GM will only be able to build 40 percent of all allocations of the Encore GX with AWD.
It’s important to note that this doesn’t mean that won’t be able to spec their cars with the AWD option. If they choose to do so, they may have to wait longer, and dealers might have a harder time finding an allocation to place the order.
As a reminder, the 2023 Buick Encore GX is standard with the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, rated at 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. Optional is the turbocharged 1.3L I3 L3T gasoline engine, rated at 155 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 174 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm. Transmission options include either a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) or the GM nine-speed automatic. FWD, which is standard, comes equipped exclusively with CVT-equipped models. Meanwhile, the optional AWD system, runs exclusively with the nine-speed.
Under the skin, the Buick Encore GX rides on GM’s modular GM VSS-F (Vehicle Strategy Set-Front) platform. Production began at the GM Bupyeong plant in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, South Korea on April 24th, 2022.
It’s worth noting that this development follows GM’s decision to end production of the 2022 Buick Encore at the end of the 2022 model year. This means that the Buick Encore GX will serve as Buick’s entry level vehicle once Encore production ends, or until the upcoming Buick Envista launches in the U.S. and potentially undercuts the Encore GX in price.

What the Hell !!! ???
my wife brought a 22 Encore GX in April. It had only 10000 miles and has been in the shop since August and it is now Nov 1st. The error code originally said it was the fuel control module. they had it a week waiting on the part. She picked it up and drove it and took it back the same day. for the same error. This time they said fuel pump. it is now almost 2 months and they still cannot get the fuel pump. seriously thunking about the lemon law. When is GM going to stand up and replace the vehicle because they can’t supply the part?
