2022 Chevy Silverado HD Heated Seat Retrofits Under Way

GM has launched a customer satisfaction program to begin retrofitting heated seats for certain units of the 2022 Chevy Silverado HD affected by the global microchip shortage, GM Authority has learned.

As GM Authority covered previously, a variety of Chevy models have faced constraints for heated seats as a result of the chip shortage, including the 2022 Chevy Silverado HD. GM resolved the availability issues for heated seats in the 2022 Chevy Silverado HD back in February, but some units that should have been equipped with this feature were built without it. This constraint was initially put in place for in November of 2021.

The Heated Front Seats feature for the 2022 Chevy Silverado HD is tagged with RPO code KA1, and is included and only available for the LT trim level via the Convenience Package (RPO code PCL). Heated Front Seats are also included as standard for 2022 Chevy Silverado HD LTZ and High Country trim levels.

Now, according to sources familiar with the matter, dealers are currently in contact with 2022 Chevy Silverado HD owners affected by the Heated Front Seats constraint, informing them that the feature is now eligible for a free retrofit. Dealer technicians are instructed to install the missing components and update the vehicle’s body control module.

To note, this latest customer satisfaction program only pertains to the heated seats feature, and does not cover the ventilated seats feature that was also impacted by the microchip shortage.

To note, GM launched a separate customer satisfaction program in August to begin retrofitting heated seats in certain units of the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 and Silverado 1500 Limited impacted by the microchip shortage.

The 2022 Chevy Silverado HD is the third model year of the fourth-generation pickup, introducing just a few updates and changes compared to the 2021 model year. Under the hood, the 2022 Chevy Silverado HD is equipped with either the naturally aspirated 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, or the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine. Production takes place at the GM Flint Assembly plant in Michigan and GM Oshawa plant in Canada.

  1. How can I get my 2022 2500 HD truck Chips for my heated seats, heated steering wheel and front/rear park assist that I am waiting for?

  2. Progress… Finally…. I have the 2022 Sierra 2500 HD, should be next in line after 10.5 months of driving w/o heated / ventilated seats and heated steering wheel. Huge huge huge disappointment that I can’t make one trip and get all three of these taken care of together. Especially after waiting this long. I know, GM doesn’t care about my disappointment. They are too busy with EV’s.
Well I expect there will be an announcement within 2 weeks that the Sierra HD lineup will begin the retrofits. Hopefully it’s a quick process as it seems GM has been very focused on retrofits in the last several months working their way through each model .

    1. Really? So I guess you forgot you signed a document knowing you didn’t have a seat heater and one would be retrofitted in the future. It’s called a global chip shortage and everyone’s trying their best to work through it, not lazy butts
