Webasto Go Mobile EV Charger Launches In The U.S. And Canada

California-based EV-charging company Webasto Charging Systems just launched the new Webasto Go, a Level 2 mobile EV charger that could serve as a replacement or secondary charging cord for a variety of GM all-electric vehicles.

The new Webasto Go includes dual voltage applications, including 120V and 240V, and can deliver up to 32A, resulting in more than 20 miles of driving range added per charging hour. The new charger also includes a wealth of standard safety features, such as grid plug temperature monitoring, plug-specific electrical current limitations, automatic adapter detection, and built-in temperature sensing. What’s more, the Webasto Go boasts an IP67 rating and can be submerged in upwards of 3 feet of water, making it safe to use indoors or outdoors, even in inclement weather.

The charger includes a 20-foot cable, with the U.S. version of the product incorporating a NEMA 14-50 grid plug for Level 2 charging, and 120V grid plug for Level 1 charging.

“I am excited to now offer the same product performance and high quality to our end-consumers as we have done for our automotive customers,” said senior director of Sales for Webasto Charging Systems Aftermarket, Greg White. “The Webasto Go is a great addition to our wallboxes and overall EV product portfolio, and we can’t wait to launch the same easy-to-use and safe mobile chargers in Germany, Europe and other regions soon.”

The new Webasto Go is available now to customers in the U.S. and Canada, and can be found either at major retail stores, or direct from the Webasto EV Solutions website, the latter of which lists pricing at $549.

The new product made its formal “in-person” debut on September 10th, 2022 at the Fully Charged LIVE North America 2022 Show in San Diego. The new product was also on hand at the The Battery Show North America 2022 in Michigan, which ran from September 13th through September 15th.

  1. Look identical to the Ford charger for the 98kw battery in the Lightning

  2. ‘Submerged in upwards of 3′ of water’. Where are people charging, at a dock? If your charger is under that much water you have a big problem. $549 plus installation.

  3. Basically the same thing provided free with the 2022 BOLT EUV (Mine is 1 1/3 years old), and my upcoming Caddy LYRIQ.

No change in features….. Box shape is slightly different but the cord ends look that they were built to the same old (16 months old ) GM standard for multiple temperature monitoring, etc.
