General Motors has just launched the all-new Wuling Xing Chi in China, just weeks after officially announcing the Chinese brand’s new smaller crossover earlier this month.
The SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture held the official launch of the all-new Wuling Xing Chi on September 28th in China, where the new-generation crossover is being positioned as “the first vehicle for young people” with a very aggressive price range. In fact, the Xing Chi becomes the most affordable vehicle in the new Wuling model lineup wearing the brand’s Global Silver logo.
The all-new Wuling Xing Chi is a small crossover that represents the fourth next-generation product in Wuling‘s global strategy after the Victory MPV, the Xing Chen (Asta) crossover and the new Jia Chen. As such, it adopts the familiar “dynamic wing” design language, but with its own personality as it debuts the sporty new “S” appearance with aggressive bumpers, dual exhaust tips, a rear air diffuser and red brake calipers.
In particular, the all-new Wuling Xing Chi will be offered on the Chinese market in six variants with a clear focus on younger buyers that can be translated from Mandarin to English as Free, Freestyle, Fun, Enjoy, Trendy and Cool. Wuling’s new sporty looking “S” finish will come as standard on the two range-topping variants, and will be optional on the mid-level Fun and Enjoy variants.
Mechanically, the Wuling Xing Chi is available with three different drivetrain combinations. The range starts with the 98-horsepower 1.5L naturally aspirated engine that can be mated to either the five-speed manual transmission or the continuously variable automatic. Meanwhile, the Trendy and Cool variants come standard with the 145-horsepower turbocharged 1.5L engine mated exclusively to the CVT automatic.
The all-new Wuling Xing Chi is now available for sale at the brand’s extensive network of official dealers in China, offering class-leading standard technology features thanks to Wuling’s new Ling OS operating system. In addition, it has an 11.4 cubic-foot cargo area that can be expanded thanks to the folding rear seats, as well as up to 27 storage points. Here are the prices of the new Xing Chi:
- Xing Chi Free 1.5L MT: 56,800 yuan (about $7,980 USD at the current exchange rate)
- Xing Chi Freestyle 1.5L MT: 67,800 yuan ($9,520 USD)
- Xing Chi Fun 1.5L CVT: 71,800 yuan ($10,080 USD)
- Xing Chi Enjoy 1.5L CVT: 76,800 yuan ($10,780 USD)

Looks like they get better interiors there than we do here. What a crock
It’d be a steal to get that for $20,000 in the US but they get it for 10. This is what a manufacturing edge looks like.
It looks like every other of the seemingly hundreds of CUV models now, LOL.
With Buick going away in North America, will this vehicle be sod here as a GMC?
The current strategy is to rebrand Wuling as Chevy overseas, but that’s being done in non-USA markets.
