Firestone Firehawk AS V2 Tire Launched, Fits Chevy Camaro

Bridgestone recently announced the all-new Firestone Firehawk AS V2 all-season ultra-high performance tire, which is designed to provide “a spirited and sporty driving experience no matter the season,” with sizing to fit the Chevy Camaro. The new Firestone Firehawk AS V2 features a tread pattern design that’s inspired by the IndyCar Firestone Firehawk racing rain tire, thus providing solid handling in even the wettest of conditions.

Bridgestone claims that the new Firestone Firehawk AS V2 tire delivers faster lap times than the first Firehawk AS tire, based on internal testing. Bridgestone also says the new Firehawk AS V2 delivers faster wet lap times and better snow performance than BFGoodrich’s G-Force Comp 2 A/S+ tires, as well as General’s G-Max AS-05 tires.

“When designing the Firestone Firehawk AS V2, our goal was to produce an ultra-high performance tire without trading off its performance in inclement weather,” said Senior Product Manager, Bridgestone Americas, Ian McKenny. According to McKenny, the Firehawk AS V2 uses a similar braided tread design as the IndyCar racing rain tire to achieve this higher level of performance.

Standout design features include interlocking lugs and full-depth 3D sipes for consistent wear and performance throughout the life of the tire, with the interlocking lugs and large outboard tread blocks providing surefooted handling in wet conditions. Bridgestone says that the 3D full-depth sipes also provide confident handling in the snow.

The new Firestone Firehawk AS V2 tire is available in H, V, and W speed ratings, and can be had in a broad range of sizes to fit popular modern sports cars and muscle cars like the Chevy Camaro. What’s more, Bridgestone says the new Firehawk AS V2 can deliver a sportier feel for popular sedan and crossover models, if desired. Customers can find the new Firehawk ultra-high performance all-season tire available now at all Bridgestone authorized tire dealers in the U.S. and Canada. The tire includes a 50,000-mile limited warranty.

  2. Nice to know for the firestone tire guy (note the lack of “s”).

All the car guys I know, all the shops, all the tracks…have yet to see a pair of firestone tires 😁

  3. We all know just how well Firestone tires worked out for Ford. Me thinks GM should find another tire supplier.

    1. If a) Ford had had the right inflation pressure figures on the door sticker, and b) the average Explorer owner knew he was driving an enclose truck and not a sports car, the issue likely would not have occurred.

I, for one, wouldn’t give a second thought about buying Firestone if they have the tire I want. The ones I have had performed competently,. wore properly, and never had a failure. Oh, and, unlike Goodyear, Firestones are round.

  4. Despite the comments, my last two sets of tires have been Firestone’s with zero issues and good service. Firestone has been owned by Bridgestone for the last decade or so, most all of Bridgestone’s technology filters down to the Firestone line and quality certainly seems to have been greatly improved. They’re not ultimate performance tires by any definition but for daily use their utility and performance has been all I expected.

  6. Just in time for the discontinued Camaro.
Makes no difference, I wouldn’t put a Firestone on any car I own, or anyone I cared for.

  7. Does not fit LT models with the 18″ wheels. Does not fit the SS rear wheels, does not fit SS 1LE or ZL1 models.

This tire only fits the LT models with the 20″ wheels (245/40/20). Hardly a tire that is targeted to fit the Camaro.

  9. I run Firestone indy 500 on my mustang. They blow away the nitto tires I was running previously. It’s not the same Firestone from the Era of ford blowouts.
