GM unveiled the Cadillac Celestiq Show Car in July, giving us an eyeful of the luxury brand’s upcoming all-electric halo sedan. Now, the Cadillac Celestiq Show Car has been recognized with not one, but two EyesOn Design Awards.
The latest 2022 EyesOn Design Awards were handed out at the 2022 North American International Auto Show, also known as the Detroit Auto Show. The 2022 award winners were determined by a panel of leading automotive designers and design educators, with nearly two dozen judges weighing in.
The Cadillac Celestiq Show Car took home the award for Best Concept Vehicle, besting finalists that also included the 2022 Buick Wildcat EV Concept and Lincoln Model L100 Concept. The Cadillac Celestiq Show Car was also recognized with the Innovative Use of Color, Graphics or Materials award, besting finalists that included the Buick Wildcat Concept and Audi Grandsphere Concept.
Notably, the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV was recognized as a finalist for the Best Production Vehicle award.
GM publicly debuted the Cadillac Celestiq Show Car on July 22nd, showing off an exterior design that combined inspiration pulled from the brand’s past, including Caddy’s V16-powered prewar coaches and the 1957 Eldorado Brougham, as well as Cadillac’s latest EV-centric design cues. The cabin space features a broad spectrum of innovative technology concepts, including no less than five high-definition LED displays, and, as GM Authority exclusively covered last year, a Smart Glass Roof with Suspended Particle Device technology (SPD) and customizable opacity levels.
Critically, the Cadillac Celestiq will feature GM Ultra Cruise, the next evolution in GM’s semi-autonomous driver assist tech. The first iteration of the technology, GM Super Cruise, offers hands-free driving for specific stretches of highway. By comparison, GM Ultra Cruise promises hands-free driving capabilities in 95 percent of driving scenarios.
When it hits prime time, the upcoming Cadillac Celestiq production vehicle will be built by hand at the GM Global Technical Center in Michigan, and offered as the most-expensive production Caddy ever. Under the skin, the Cadillac Celestiq rides on the GM BEV3 platform. GM Ultium drive motors and GM Ultium batteries will provide the motivation.

Not a surprise, the Celestiq is a fabulous design and I would expect design professionals to see it for what it is.
would hope it would win with that competition
I think it’s a great design as well. I’m wondering which design elements took their inspiration from “Caddy’s V16-powered prewar coaches and the 1957 Eldorado Brougham”? I ask as my first car, when I was in high school in 1968, was a ‘58 Eldorado Brougham.
Well Buick ever bring back the sedan ?
Probably the most anticipated Cadillac ever.
Excuse me, but I can’t see how this car is worth even $150,000 let alone $300,000.
The build quality would have to be extraordinary (for gm) to be REMOTELY anything like this….
Those designers were probably paid handsomely by GM to give this super ugly vehicle an award.
