2024 Chevy Equinox EV 3LT: The Well-Equipped Trim Level

The 2024 Chevy Equinox EV is mainly intended to be a budget-minded electric crossover for those who want a relatively inexpensive way to make the transition away from a combustion engine vehicle. There will always be consumers who prefer to load their vehicle up with equipment, however, which is where the handsomely equipped 2024 Chevy Equinox EV 3LT comes into play.

Compared to the 2024 Chevy Equinox EV 2LT, the Equinox EV 3LT trim level will add the following standard equipment:

  • 8-way power-adjustable driver seat and 6-way power-adjustable front passenger seat
  • Front heated/ventilated seats and rear outboard heated seats
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Heated wiper park
  • 17.7-inch-diagonal infotainment screen
  • 21-inch aluminum wheels
  • Standard presence-based power liftgate
  • Standard Adaptive Cruise Control and HD Surround Vision

June 2024 update: the heated front seats, heated steering wheel, heated wiper park, presence-based power liftgate, HD Surround Vision and Adaptive Cruise Control features were made standard on the 2LT trim level before the start of regular production.

In addition, the 3LT trim level can be equipped with a long list of features that are not available on the 1LT or 2LT trims in any capacity. This list includes:

  • Available Head-up Display
  • Available Bose audio system
  • Available Rear Camera Mirror with washer

June 2024 update: the Head-up Display, Bose audio system and Rear Camera Mirror features were removed from the 2024 Equinox EV’s equipment list before the start of regular production.

The Equinox EV 3LT will come standard with the front-wheel-drive powertrain and long-range battery. This combination is rated at 210 horsepower and 242 pound-feet of torque, while range sits at an estimated 300 miles. Notably, the 2LT and 3LT trims cannot be ordered with the standard 250-mile range battery, which is exclusive to the 1LT trim.

June 2024 update: the 1LT trim level’s smaller battery pack was dropped before the start of regular production.

The 3LT can be equipped with the available eAWD system, as well, which bumps output to 290 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque, with range sitting at 280 miles. GM has not said how much it will cost to equip the Equinox 3LT with the longer-range battery or AWD, with additional info expected to be divulged as its official on-sale date approaches. Pricing for the 3LT trim is also not available, however it’s expected to slot above the 1LT, 2LT and 2RS in the lineup with regards to pricing, but underneath the 3RS.

  1. Those UGLY wheels might hurt sales!!?

    1. You must be the only driver who hangs his head out and watches the wheels while driving.

      1. In that case, it doesn’t matter what any car looks like, does it? After all, you’re inside and can’t see it.

  2. I hate to be negative but I won’t purchase any daily driver with 21” wheels! Ever priced those tires? Better just trade it in, just silly.

    1. If they’re special EV tires, they will even more expensive.

At least the 1LT has 19 inch.

      1. My 2019 Premier has 19’s that’s big enough. Lower profile tires are just more problems, especially in cold climates.

        Reply
        1. And the lower the profile the rougher the ride by feeling more bumps let alone rim wreckage if you hit a hole too hard. I will never by machine aluminum rims again with clearcoat….the harsh waters eat it away unless you diligently maintain them. What a waste of extra cash on my volt.

      2. Just sell the 21″ wheels and get 19″ wheels when it’s time for new tires. Problem solved.

    2. What’s silly is just trading in a car because it needs new tires and you don’t want to spend $100-200 extra dollars because they aren’t the base tires.

      1. I was trying to be nice, those big wagon wheels with rubber rim covers are butt ugly too! They look especially goofy on pickups.

  3. Any idea what will be the Towing Capacity

    Reply
    1. If you are looking to tow something, go with an ICE vehicle…BEV’s aren’t anywhere near replacing the utility in SUV’s just yet. Go watch the F150 Lightning towing video reviews on YouTube…they are pretty eye-opening.

      1. You’re definitely right about towing substantial loads, but this and many other EVs can tow small loads without issues. I am planning to transition from a Toyota Tacoma to an Equinox EV and plan to use it tow the occasional small, light load to the landfill. I feel confident it will do that without problems.

      2. He did not say he is towing cross country. An EV will tow much better than the best diesel or gas. The range will be less just like the range is less for ICE. The only problem is charging wait times for cross country trips. You will get rewarded for those wait times. I have seen figures of diesel pickups towing cross country and costing $2000 in diesel, while the same trip costing $750 in public charging for an EV. Now you just have to decide whether $1250 means anything to you and if $1250 is worth spending an extra day charging on your trip.

    2. The AWD version will have a 1500 lb towing capacity according to Chevy.

  4. Why are the front of all EV’s so Ugly, why can’t they have a decent looking Grille

      1. I will NOT accept the white roof!!

    3. An EV doesn’t really need much of a grille.

      Reply
      1. I understand they do not need a grille but most EV’s, and the Equinox is included, have a space where it looks like a grille should be so why not put something in this space to make the vehicle better looking

        1. That’s exactly what they do. It has a pattern going and everything. It doesn’t look good to me either, but that’s the styling they’ve gone with on all their EVs apparently.

          Reply
  5. You would think they could have a unit that gets 400 to 500 miles to a charge by now. Wish full thinking I guess. Driving a couple hundred miles and back would be nice with out stopping to charge. I guess there making the units for short commutes.

    Reply
    1. 300 miles is quite enough. After a drive like that, I like to stretch my legs , a bit. If they can install those extra fast charge machines 10 minutes or less for 80% , that would fix the problem of wasted time.

      Reply
      1. And more so people just gotta have what is never needed. But if one simply thinks of how they drive they will realize that most of the time they are never even in need of charging as often and quick as they need except for their very few out of town trips if that….unless your a traveling salesman daily from town to town and want an EV…then maybe you should wait til it all gets better. For now I can wait the 20 or so minutes to get it charged to 80% for the same reasons you mention including pee, coffee break, etc. If everyone waited for cell phones to be perfect ya would not own one by now.

        Reply
        1. Good luck finding a place to charge and when you do there’s likely a long wait.

          1. No problem in my garage.

    2. You could but it would cause the vehicle’s weight to balloon out of control (along with its price).

In a combustion vehicle it isn’t a big deal to increase the capacity of the fuel tank, but in an electric vehicle it is.

To get a 500 mile range you will probably need a battery that is between 200% and 250% the size of the battery that the vehicle has. That will probably equate to an extra 1,200 pounds of vehicle weight (at least). My guess is you would end up with something like a one and a half ton battery (like in the Hummer EV).

      Reply
      1. That doubles the weight of the vehicle! That seems pretty inefficient when less than 100 lbs. of liquid fuel yields the same travel distance and only requires 5 minutes to recharge!

        Reply
      2. They shouldn’t be adding range by adding more batteries to the car. They should have made the car and motors more efficient.

        Reply
        1. You’re not really going to make electric motors more efficient, at least not much more. Making the cars more efficient doesn’t seem to be the current trend either, or we’d be driving sedans instead of crossovers and SUVs.

        2. Solar panels on the hood roof and trunk.

          Reply
          1. That might actually work on the Aptera, because it actually is lightweight and aerodynamic.
For a 5000 lbs SUV it might keep your battery from draining when parked.

            Reply
          2. I don’t think solar panels would work because they don’t make enough voltage to make a difference in mileage . Maybe run a heater but not enough to help power the car down the road.

            Reply
        3. Physics certainly comes into play. If it was as easy as just making motors more efficient, I think someone would have done that by now. Physics makes it more difficult. You just can’t wish it to be!

  6. Well the thing I like about this 3LT model is that the model exists for those who want all the Gobbledygook….

That leaves the presumably much, much more reasonalble 1LT for people such as me who just want the basic vehicle, with perhaps an optional bigger battery.

I would never have 21″ wheels since some cars these days look like Bicycles with training wheels.. A bigger concern is that you hit a POTHOLE, and those LOW-PROFILE tires are ruined and the rims also need replacement…

Went through all of that with my Caddy ELR. Too many tires and rims replaced before their time… Never again.

  7. This will be a huge winner for GM and bite Tesla in the #@&%^%. Tesla is surfing a cult wave now, but that wave will hit the beach. With releases such as this. I like the Equinox.

This vehicle is geared to the urban, suburban female and young family types. Will be simple and easy to maintain for the female gender, which they will love. When you mention diesel to a female, the deer in the headlight look happens.

    1. If gm can manage to build these in quantity, they should be reasonably successful. But they’re not going to see anything like Tesla levels of sales.

  10. The 2024 3Lt equinox comes standard with awd not front wheel as said and I agree 19 inch wheels are big enough and are better in the snow, and the 3Lt is the best trim level for the money also.
