2023 Corvette Edge Red Brake Calipers No Longer Available

While many other GM vehicles have faced various equipment shortages/constraints due to supply chain snags, the C8 Corvette has mostly been shielded from the backlogs and delays that are currently plaguing the automotive industry. That’s now changed, however, as the 2023 Corvette Stingray and 2023 Corvette Z06 are no longer available to order with the optional Edge Red painted brake calipers (RPO code J6N) due to a supplier constraint.

This change means customers are not able to order the Edge Red painted calipers on either the 2023 Corvette Stingray or the 2023 Corvette Z06 in any of the available trim levels. This is typically a $695 option on the Stingray and Z06.

The Edge Red painted caliper is also standard equipment on the 70the Anniversary Special Edition package, so buyers of vehicles with this option would typically have to opt for the Bright Red painted calipers instead (RPO J6F), however this package is not available to order at the moment due to a supply constraint. GM has delayed ordering of vehicles equipped with the 70th Anniversary Package as a result of this ongoing supply constraint.

Production of the 2023 Corvette Z06 is also extremely limited at the moment due to various supply chain setbacks, as we reported previously. GM has stopped taking new sold orders for the nameplate at the moment, as well. This applies to both the 2023 Corvette Z06 Coupe and Z06 Convertible. It’s unclear when GM may be able to once again accept Z06 orders, nor how many it will be able to produce for the 2023 model year.

We’ll provide an update on the supply challenges currently facing the 2023 Corvette Stingray and Z06 once more information is available. In the meantime, be sure to subscribe to GM Authority for more mid-engine Corvette newsCorvette C8 newsCorvette newsChevrolet news, and 24/7 GM news coverage.

Seriously guys? The C8 has seen nothing but shortages/constraints and backlogs!!! Please do me a favor and respond with how many times you have included an article in this GM Authority forum about either a shortage, constraint or backlog affecting the C8, whether it be regular, Z51 or Z06!

  7. I think that I remember reading that there was a fire (or some catastrophic loss) at the supplier. It is simply not believable that no other facility in the US could be contracted to paint some calipers. There is very possibly a larger problem with this car that is not being discussed outside GM…one comment in the GM message to dealers (in context of the allocation freeze) was to “get the car right”…which isn’t good language…it should be “right” by now, and that is a different msg than supply chain probs.
Mission Failure…maybe make that the space-themed title of the next video.
The 2023 Z06 increasing reminds me of the 1989 Quad-4 powered Fiero…that was also a cool mid-engined concept in its day.

    1. The fire occurred at the plant on July 10th. This is the only supplier because they have a trademark/copyright on edge red.

  8. Man I’m screwed. Car if I very delivered in amplified orange with machined face trident wheels and I struggled to arrive at caliper color. Been to museum twice to witness delivery of AO C8 and both times, they were fitted with edge red. Man I don’t another color that will mesh

  9. Yep my order just got confirmed TPW in late September and I had to remove edge red for bright red. Also had to order a z51 package also to get my order to go through. All other options passed through. Little sad with all price increases my 22 was 75kmsrp I’m now at 84k msrp.

  14. GM specified a vendor’s proprietary color. In hindsight that was nothing short of stupid. It has been two months and still no substitute for edge red. Why not use the formula for red mist for a high heat caliper paint? Or add another drop of red to it to make edgeless red. Jeez.

  15. I just looked again to see if the build and price was open on the Z06, it’s not. Looks like Gm would go ahead and put on the build and price what was available for a build now and what might be available to order later. I’m #4 on the list at my dealership and when/if my allocation comes up, I would like to be able to tell my dealer to order my car with what is available or wait until I could get exactly what I want……….I don’t think that’s too much to ask??
My 2020 keeps looking better and better.
