The 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 is the fifth model year of the latest fourth-generation light-duty pickup, debuting a number of important changes and updates compared to the fully refreshed 2022 model year. Now, GM Authority has learned that some units of the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 will be built without functional power outlets.
According to sources familiar with the matter, some units of the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 are being built without functional instrument panel and bed-mounted 120V power outlets, as of September 19th production.
More specifically, the features affected by this constraint include the Instrument panel, 120-volt power outlet (RPO code KI4) and Bed mounted, 120-volt power outlet (RPO code KC9). Although affected units of the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 include the physical installation of these features, the features themselves are non-functional.
Units of the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 affected by this constraint are indicated as such on the window sticker, which will include RPO code 08R. Affected vehicles will be eligible for an eventual dealer retrofit, although it’s unclear at this time if buyers will receive a purchase credit for the inconvenience.
This constraint affects the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, and LT Trail Boss. The constraint does not affect 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 WT, ZR2, LTZ, or High Country trims levels.
Notably, several 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 trim levels are under more general production constraints, including the 2023 Chevy Silverado ZR2, Custom Trail Boss, and LT Trail Boss, per previous GM Authority coverage.
As for upgrade and changes compared to the refreshed 2022 model year, the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 introduces a new diesel engine to the lineup, specifically the 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax. The new LZ0 engine could be considered the “second iteration” of GM’s Duramax 3.0L six-cylinder, with the previous LM2 considered the first.
Further powerplant options include the atmospheric 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine, the atmospheric 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, and the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine. Pricing for the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 starts at $37,395, including Destination Freight Charge (DFC). Under the skin, is the GM T1 platform. Production takes place at GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, GM Silao plant in Mexico, and GM Oshawa plant in Canada.

2023 Silverado K1500 LTZ does it have a power rear glass with out the power sunroof?
Whats next , shipped without a driveshaft ??? The dealer wiil put it in when the parts come in !!
Nothing on driveshafts yet.
I heard they were short on steering wheels $50 credit, $60 if you use your own vice grips.
I would like an update on ordering the 1500 with rpo code NHT , Max towing package. I’ve been told dealers can’t order it on 1500 or Tahoe?
Good question, I won’t buy without it. What’s wrong with GM? They seem to be in complete disarray. I believe that they are too distracted by their misguided transition to their all EV lineup that could prove to be their undoing. Go woke go broke!
I ordered a GMC AT4 over 5 months ago and it’s still event code 1100, I think it’s time to call time on GMC and go and buy a ford or a dodge, shame on you GMC, YOU ARE LOOSING CUSTOMERS BECAUSE YOU JUST DONT CARE AND YOU ARE PUTTING ANY OLD RUBBISH ON DEALERS LOTS.
And the competition is doing what differently? They are impacted by supply chain and production issues as well, but they hold their vehicles where GM has been shipping them with some features not working that are retrofitted later. For those that need a vehicle now that is huge as opposed to waiting and having to rent a car (which are also horribly in constraint).
They care enough to actually be shipping vehicles when they can (supply chain is wrecking havoc on having them shipped). So what more do you want? Go ahead and jump ship, the competition is in the same boat (check their forums) and the grass isn’t always greener…
BTW, you chose to ordered it 5 months ago in this climate and are complaining?
The problem for me isn’t so much the delay, as it is the lack of communication. Good communication has nothing to do with supply chain.
I ordered in March and was told 3-5 months, it is now 6 months. I ask the dealer, he says he has no info other than a missing parts hold, and has no idea when he will get the truck. I ask GM, they say the truck is built and to ask my dealer as the dealer will have info on when the truck will ship. Dealer has not been informed of anything.
jai commeder le mien janvier 2022 et meme pas encord sure la chaine de montage Lt trail boss 2022 duramax 3.0l sa va aller avec le 2023 qui me dise le prix va changer a la hausse pas sure de le prendre
“GMC, YOU ARE LOOSING CUSTOMERS”
That’s because they just keep taking it that way.
5 months? Your early in the game, 9 months for my tax free loan on a 2022 GMC SLT. Enjoy Mary!!!
GM needs new leadership now!
What is leadership doing that is making you so upset that they have control of? They are extremely profitable which means layoffs are at a minimum, they are still selling vehicles unlike some competitors and they are constrained with everything just like the competition with labor and supply chain impacts…
I ordered a 22 Silverado Double Cab with the diesel in April. Received and email in July saying sorry we can’t build your order. Went to the dealer and put in an order for a 2023. Now I’m being told that it looks like production of the 2023 Double Cabs will not start until January 2023. So much for the discount Chevy sent me that has to be used before 1-3-2023. Had my previous Chevy truck for 20 years. In looking at other dealers it appears that all Chevy built was Crew Cab Short Box Pickups which now flood the market. Guess I’ll have to look to the competition. That’s just a shame.
At least you got an email, I never got didley squat. Never got the discount you talk of either. My double cab has been on order since March 22.
They don’t care about double cabs right now.
I am sure they have to pull the crew cab dies to set double cab dies to stamp the cabs out and why would they inconvenience themselves and lose that 2 large extra that a crew cab brings.
I don’t get why anyone would want to waste 2 large when paying MSRP or more if no one over 5’5” is going to sit back there.
For years they had rebates that made crews less costly than doubles if you bought at the right time.
Industry brought this on themselves. When you allow all critical supply parts to go offshore this is what you get. When the United States was the arsenal of democracy we didn’t have supply chain issues. We made everything here.
You do realize the same BS is going on with Ford, etc., right? They are all touting how build-to-order demand is up, and that going forward build-to-order is going to be THE way things are done, and that showrooms that will be virtual tours, and that the reason for all of it is because this is what WE customers want.
It’s all BS. Build to order demand is only up because there is no other choice. Build to order is terrible and completely unwanted by the masses. Sure, it’s great to be able to do a build to order when desired, and delivery time is not an issue, but for the masses, when the masses go to purchase a vehicle, the masses want, or rather need, the vehicle now; not 3 months from now, not 5 months from now, not a year from now; with zero manufacturer feedback as to when the ordered vehicle will be received; or worse, eventually be told, sorry, you need to resubmit your order as next a model year vehicle, and the price increased; Or here’s your vehicle, by the way it was built without x, y, and z.
Build to order never worked in a timely manner even before the supply chain issues arose. Now, build to order is complete BS.
Seems Like GM is taking One step forward and Two Steps back….I called them to discuss a Problem and the Woman wanted my Phone Number, (She said if we got disconnected She`d call me back)…I`m STILL waiting….
Gmc is so screwed up, I went into my local gmc dealership and they told me they will have 2023s at4 s on the lot in 8 weeks, I have been waiting 5 months for my custom built order that is still sat at 1100 status. I could of given them a deposit and had the truck in 8 weeks, but I am done with gmc, they truly don’t care about presold custom orders from loyal gmc customers. Just keep patting yourself on the back and taking big bonuses.I hope that enough customers walk away and all you fat cats loose your jobs. Your customer care is at or near zero. WELL DONE GMC.
Went to buy a silverado 1500 and can only get 4wd 3/4 ton don’t want it and can’t get pfm. I guess it’s going to be looking elsewhere
Any update on when the power outlets “fix” might be available? Utility that is much missed.
Its crazy out there…….. I went to 5 dealers looking for a 2023 Silverado crew cab 1500 High Country Diesel and called 5 Dealers.
I do have a Great Trade in 2016 Chevy HD Diesel LTZ Loaded Crew Cab 8′ bed 74,000 miles…. The Dealer I bought that truck from call Me with good news ( wanted my trade in the best way) that they have the truck loaded High Country even with multi gate, adaptive ride control, which is the only way to get the 22″ silver chrome wheels. Boy did I get lucky. The owners manual tells very little about the ride control. Youtube has a a movie summited by Chevrolet/GM about it and how it works . Shows how to lower the truck a inch for parking and how to raise 3 inches for off road, Also over 65 front end drops a inch for better mileage? There is a control for the ride only and no knob on the console that they show on youtube for raising and lowering ???? By the way all the dealers I went to want $1,000 over MSRP and one of the five that I called Wanted $1,000 under MSRP.
It does make a difference want price if they don’t have the truck, does it. SOS for the best deal and I had the trade bait that got Me in the Door. I’m a happy Chevrolet Guy again by the way 30years selling GM and # 1 Truck salesperson 1996 and 1997.
So far the best advice is shop all the Chevrolet/GMC dealers and find your best Deal with the Truck you are looking for. No Deposits Ladies and Gentleman , The Feel of the wheel is part of the deal. and remember they are not built in heaven by Angels ……………Best of Luck .
