2023 Cadillac Escalade Onyx Package Unavailable To Order

The 2023 Cadillac Escalade is offered as the third model year of the latest fifth-generation luxury SUV, introducing a selection of updates and changes compared to the preceding 2022 model year. Now, however, GM Authority has learned that the 2023 Cadillac Escalade is currently unavailable to order with the Onyx Package.

The Onyx Package for the 2023 Cadillac Escalade is tagged with RPO code PDB, and is normally available as an LPO-level option, which means it is installed at the dealer, rather than at the factory when the vehicle is initially produced.

The 2023 Cadillac Escalade Onyx Package includes the following content (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):

  • Monochrome Cadillac emblems (SFZ)
  • Gloss Black Escalade nameplate (RIK)
  • 22-inch 12-Spoke Gloss Black finish alloy wheels (SSX)
  • Cadillac crest puddle lamps, LPO (S3I) (Sport trim level only)

The Onyx Package is normally offered as an optional upgrade for 2023 Cadillac Escalade Sport and Sport Platinum trim levels.

This latest constraint follows a series of previous constraints placed on several other 2023 Cadillac Escalade features, including the GM Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assist system, the heavy duty trailering package, and the adaptive beam headlights. That said, the 2023 Cadillac Escalade’s Radiant Package is now available to order again, per previous GM Authority coverage.

Notably, pricing for the 2023 Cadillac Escalade has increases, with vehicle MSRP rising by $2,000 across the board compared to equivalent 2022 model-year vehicles.

As for what’s under the hood, non-V variants of the 2023 Cadillac Escalade are offered with two engine options, including the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 engine, which is rated at 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax, which is rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Customers who elect to step up to the new Cadillac Escalade-V will get the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, which is rated at 682 horsepower and 653 pound-feet of torque.

Under the skin, the Cadillac Escalade rides on the GM T1 platform, with production taking place at the GM Arlington plant in Texas.

  1. GM Honestly Cracks (MAKES ME HYSTERICAL) Up With Everything That Is Going On..I Wanted To Order One Of These In March….The Dealership Guy Just Laughed At Me. He Said Let Me Be Straight With You. I Can Order It But You Will Never Get It This year And Maybe The Next PLUS WHATEVER You Order May Not Be Installed On Your Vehicle…..Then He Said You Do Know There Is A $25,000. Mark-Up On This Vehicle Don’t You????…I Said SEE YA!!!

    1. Sounds like you need to find a new dealer. I ordered mine in Feb, got it last month for MSRP, no mark up

    2. With a little research, you can find several without markups. Genesis Cadillac in Detroit & Sewell Cadillac in Dallas to name a couple. (I have a CT5-V Blackwing on order)
I have a 2023 Escalade Sport on the train headed to my dealer as we speak. I suspect in the not too distant future “GM Authority” will report you can’t get the LM2 diesel engine either. (I had no option but to go with the 6.2 gas)
As for the Onyx package, my dealership is going to “Make” it for me. The blackout logos & monochromatic Cadillac crests are readily available, which leaves the crazy expensive (and unavailable) wheels. They’re going to pull my wheels and use a talented local company to have my wheels powder coated for a small fraction of what the wheels cost. They’re also going to source locally a nice set of gloss black lug nuts. HUGE $$$ savings!
