A custom 1969 Buick Riviera lowrider has won the El Segundo leg of the 2022 Hot Wheels Legends Tour and will now go on to compete for top honors in the global semifinals later this year.
This stunning 1969 Buick Riviera was brought out to the Hot Wheels Legends Tour stop El Segundo by husband-and-wife duo Mario and Nora Zamudio of Los Angeles. The result of a four-year passion project, this lowrider features shaved body moulding, full hydraulic suspension, a custom interior and a built version of the original, numbers-matching Buick 430 V8 engine. This no-expenses-spared build boasts membership in the historic Imperials Car Club, an East LA-based organization that is one of the oldest, most famous and most respected lowrider clubs in America and only accepts well-respected individuals with the most impressive builds.
The Hot Wheels Legends Tour is an annual travelling car show that challenges car builders to create the most original and outlandish custom cars they can. The winners of each leg of the tour move onto a semi-final round for further judging. The winner’s car is then turned into a 1/64 scale Hot Wheels model that can be purchased online and will be distributed to Walmart and other retail stores in America.

The winner of the 2020 Hot Wheels Legends Tour was Riley Stair, who impressed judges with his motorsports-inspired 1970 Pontiac Trans Am build. The 2020 Hot Wheels Legends Tour was held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however this year’s edition of the travelling car show is mostly in-person.
Mario and Nora Zamudio will display their 1969 Buick Riviera during the semi-final live stream, which will be hosted sometime this fall.
