The average transaction price for a new GMC Sierra rose more than eight percent year-over-year in the second quarter of 2022, across both the light-duty and heavy-duty model ranges amid strong sustained demand for the full-size pickup nameplate.
The average price paid for a new GMC Sierra 1500 or GMC Sierra HD stood at $67,565 in Q2 2022, up 8.2 percent from the same time period last year. The Sierra’s Q2 average transaction price was expectedly higher than that of the Chevy Silverado, which rose 9.4 percent year-over-year to $57,448. High average transaction prices are now the norm for the full-size pickup segment as consumers show a willingness to pay increasingly high prices for vehicles like the Sierra 1500 and Sierra HD.
Overall GMC sales slipped 14 percent to 132,055 vehicles last quarter, pushing its market share to 3.8 percent – the brand’s highest level for the second fiscal quarter in the last six years. Sales of the GMC Sierra fell 17.45 percent to 62,321 units in Q2, split between Sierra 1500 sales of 33,533 units and Sierra HD sales of 28,788 units.

Crazy my first house cost less. My 2002 Chevy double cab z71 new, sticker was around 34,000
Remember about 18 months ago when you could get a loaded 1/2 to truck for a little over $60k including taxes & fees? Now its closer to $80k. The AT4X is priced in Raptor territory, but without the visual impact the Raptor has.
These prices are ridiculous.
I agree — the prices are ridiculous but GM (and no other company) sure as Hell is not begging us to buy them! They can’t build them fast enough for us and some dealers are even adding $10-20k on top of the MRSP (I know this for a fact!). With that being said, if you want one get on the waiting list like so many thousands of us are and wait your turn to pay the “ridiculous price”. If not, please move on and cut so many of the negative comments as everything is much, much more expensive than it was months/years ago — (i.e. – gas, groceries, housing, utilities, clothing, travel, etc., etc.)! In case you haven’t heard — IT’S CALLED INFLATION!!!!
Thanks Biden.
I took delivery of a new Sierra Denali in April 21. I bought it through an old high school buddy. I was out to dinner with him recently and he was saying he’d just delivered a 22 that was nearly identical to my 21. The sticker was close to $9000 more than my similar, year old one was (this includes the now mandatory $900 Onstar). He was trying to convince me to order a 23. He was only being half serious, but did say he could put me in a new one for $10K, since he could give me more for mine as a trade, then I paid for it 16 months ago. Used car value’s are crazier, and have gone up even more, than new car prices.
When the redesigned 22 GM trucks came out, the list price jumped about $4000. Since then there have been multiple incremental increases added, leading up to the now required $900, three year Onstar, being forced on buyers about a month ago.
Mary must need a new Yacht, and expects us to pay for it.
