Other GM models in the segment fared as follows: the Trailblazer posted a seven percent share, down one percentage point; the Encore GX held a four percent share, down five percentage points; and the Encore held a mere two percent share, down one percentage point.
The four GM vehicles in the mainstream subcompact crossover segment – the Chevrolet Trax and Buick Encore, as well as their corporate cousins, the Chevrolet Trailblazer and Buick Encore GX – accounted for a cumulative 39,903 deliveries, good for 17 percent segment share. That puts The General in either first or second place, depending on how one slices this segment (see section about Hyundai and Kia below), from an overall volume standpoint.

However, a strong argument can be made that the Kia Soul is not part of the segment in question, but rather competes one segment below based on its size and price point. Removing the Soul from the Hyundai-Kia total nets 38,452 deliveries for a combined 18 percent segment share, placing the Hyundai-Kia conglomerate to second place just behind GM.

The GM Authority Take
Chevy Trax sales volume was about half of what it was a year ago during the second quarter of 2022, a performance that was expected given that the model is on its way out and GM is allocating the limited production resources to larger and more profitable vehicles.
GM Authority was the first to report that GM will drop the Chevy Trax from its lineup after the 2022 model year, a fate that is also awaiting the Buick Encore. However, the automaker has confirmed that it will release an all-new Chevy Trax later this year. We expect this next-gen Trax to be the rumored Chevy crossover coupe, about which GM Authority was also the first to report on earlier this year.
We expect sales of the Trax to improve considerably once the all-new Trax model launches and scales up. Until then, sales will continue dwindling as GM winds down production of the current Trax. In fact, all remaining 2022 Trax orders were limited to the LT trim level in June and U.S. inventory of the small crossover was at just 10 days supply in July.
Meanwhile, Chevy continues going full speed ahead when it comes to electric vehicles. The Bow Tie brand already offers the refreshed Chevy Bolt EV, which is similar in size to the current Trax, and its slightly larger cousin, the Chevy Bolt EUV.
On the way is the first-ever 2024 Chevy Equinox EVÂ with GM teasing the interior in a video earlier this year. The model should be revealed later this year. In July, GMÂ revealed the all-new 2024 Chevy Blazer EV SS with up to 557 horsepower as the very first Chevy electric car to feature a performance SS model.

Trax CC looks good, hard to believe that GM would sell it in North America.
