All-New Buick Envista Crossover Interior Design Revealed

Within hours of the world debut of the all-new Buick Envista at the upcoming 2022 Chengdu Motor Show in China, General Motors has just officially revealed the interior design of Buick‘s upcoming compact crossover.

The SAIC-GM joint venture released the first official images of the all-new Buick Envista’s interior, which the automaker formally announced last week in China. The images confirm the preview of the Envista’s interior captured by spy photographers in early July, which uncovered the crossover’s dash configuration with a massive free-form control module as the main protagonist.

Like the exterior, the interior of the all-new Buick Envista is based on the brand’s new global Pure Design philosophy with elegant, flowing lines that maximize the feeling of spaciousness. The dashboard has a layered design and includes a special carved area that supports the large, slightly curved central control module, which is made up of two side-by-side 10.25-inch screens and touch controls like those found in the new Buick Verano Pro.

The prominent, high-resolution dual screens that adorn the dashboard of the all-new Buick Envista adopt the latest evolution of Buick eConnect intelligent networking technology, with a new processor and sensors that increase its fluidity. The infotainment system features a complete evolution in terms of user interface, voice recognition and navigation with multiple OTA remote updates per year.

Cosmetically, the base version of the new Buick Envista features a two-tone black cabin with light gray accents, both on the soft door liners and on the seat trim and stitching. For its part, the interior of the Buick Envista GS has an overall black finish and adds automatic climate control, piano black trim, exclusive sports seats, as well as red stitching and embroidery with the GS logo.

The all-new Buick Envista will make its world debut later this week at the 2022 Chengdu Motor Show, where it will be exposed to the press and general public for the first time. The new Envista will come to expand the brand’s broad SUV portfolio as the sixth crossover in Buick’s portfolio in China, positioned between the Encore GX and Envision S. It is not yet clear whether or not GM plans to market the Envista in North America.

  2. Oh goody, now there is two colors of black for the interior. Like one wasn’t enough. The Canadian and Alaska citizens are jumping for joy.

    1. When is Buick going to come out with a product line similar to China’s.

    2. i ask the same thing. if there is someone that could benefit from gm’s ev push is definitely buick. gm seems to make their ev’s have decent performance with decent interiors ( excluding the bolt ) but yet the best gm can do for buick is a wildcat concept? quite frankly buick is in no position for concepts. they need future ev’s asap. as it stands, (as i’ve been saying) buick is literally the most bland of the 4 brands. the avenir trim that they have is a gimmick. plus anything under the enclave is cheap and under powered, with cheap referring to the interior materials.

  4. I think it will be good when the designers (all makes) get past the appearance of a tablet standing on the edge of the instrument panel.

  5. Not a bad looking vehicle, but why the hell is every manufacturer trying to look like the other? I have never seen so much blandness/sameness in new vehicles. I miss the days when you could distinctively tell which brand you were looking at. I swear these designers don’t have a passion for automotive design.

  6. That’s what happens when you have a computer screen in front of you. I haven’t seen much distinctive styling on laptops or tablets – which is essentially what you have here.

  7. What does Buick even stand for? What sets them apart, especially from a styling point of view? They have gotten to the point where they just have a handful of generic and not very luxurious crossovers. Buick has all of this history and dramatic styling to draw on and they just aren’t doing anything with it.

Buick stands for Premium crossovers/ SUVs.

      Just like Lincoln.

  8. Buick seems to love the Chinese market more than the US! Will GM ever give us a new Buick? …or will the continue to cater only to China?

    1. Mr. Bolin:

That’s because the Chinese buy so many.

  12. Nice looking wagon but we won’t get it it’s all EV this and EV that… Even dodge is giving up the V8s in their cars what a shame… They got what they wanted no more muscle cars! Why not bring this here to have something between the Envision and Enclave and get rid of the Encore.

  13. I agree with nearly every comment (about 16 of them) above mine. Just another suv/cuv with just another tablet stuck to the dash. Ok, ok. so this tablet is longer and rounded on the corners with a slight curve to it. Oh, that makes it better in no way.

I’ve had numerous suv/cuv’s over the years. But I’m so sick of them that I just want to pluck my eyes out. But if I were in the market for one and wanted a Buick and walked into a Buick dealer and saw this one along side the Encore GX and Envision, there’s zero way on earth that I’d choose this over one of those just on the dash alone. Go ahead and pull up a pic of the Envision dash and compare it side by side with this. Anyone who would choose this over the Envision would only be doing it because they caught the my screen is bigger than your screen fever.

    1. Envista & Seeker reminds me of old GM badge engineeing when a Pontiac, Olds & Buick would receive small tweaks but, basically, be the same vehicle.
This Pure design is blah & nothing like the home run elegance of latest Envision or even Chinese Enclave.
Is Simcoe not the right person to oversee design?

    2. I agree but the Envision is a much more pleasing vehicle to look at inside and out then the Encore… Have you seen Fords F150 lighting giant iphone in the dash it looks horrible for a vehicle that costs that much. GM as big as they are does the screens much better. Even the Toyota screen looks better.

      1. I’m just screened out. Even though my 2021 Malibu is more simple and the interior design flows well, I still don’t like the way the top of the screen sticks up from the dash by about an inch. They could have easily designed it to be more flush. But it’s something I can (and do) live with.

But I get into my 1988 Cadillac and just love the simplicity of it. No screens. No USB’s. Just an elegant yet simple place to relax and actually drive.

  14. Surprised to see a traditional shifter in this vehicle when Envision and Enclave are using the newer design electronic shift buttons… which I really like.

  15. it might be nice if Buick actually started to build vehicles and deliver to the dealers….waited a year now for an opportunity to order a new Envision (with all the parts, chips etc) and trade in my 2019 Envision…..dealer stated can’t order yet….that’s been going on for 8 months now…..just gave up and ordered a 2023 Volvo XC60 Hybrid…..will be delivered in November…..Buick lost a return customer screwing around

    1. Charlie: I’ve been working at a store with Volvo for nearly 7 years now. All I can say is that I hope you have better luck with the Volvo than most. I’d recommend taking a look at the JP Power and Consumer Reports before taking delivery. Yes, there’s a lot of people out there that really like their Volvo’s, but they are not nearly as reliable and the cost of maintenance will dwarf anything Buick. Personally I’d tell you to wait it out and get the Buick. Also, I can tell you that Volvo is having issues getting cars just like GM. Nobody is immune to this vehicle and chip shortage.

  16. which car and which brand is this ? I can not identify..

  17. Dan B what you don’t get is that the screens are not made by GM or the car companies they are bought and installed in the interior while the car is being built… I get what your saying but I love the screen in our 2019 Buick Enclave and I must admit my 2010 equinox has a nice screen but it’s a little to small and integrated into the dash board which would be a pain if you had to service it… That’s probably another reason why they don’t put the screen in the dash that and you need room for the AC ducts and hoses, buttons for radio knob, shifter buttons, HVAC controls. Maybe it’s me but I like the bigger screens not the iPhone looking things though.

    1. What? I have no idea what you just said. (not understanding it).

Screens are designed into the vehicles. Maybe GM doesn’t actually make them, but it’s all part of the design process. The screens that are well integrated would be no more difficult to remove than one sticking up from the dash. Look at it like this: It’s the same as older car radios. You remove a trim plate and will find some form of screws or attachments that you would simply remove. Doing such would allow the screen to be removed and a new one plugged in and put it all back together. Now I haven’t had any of them out, but logic would indicate it’s an easier process than you would think. And finally, remember that these screens are really nothing more than an I-pad or tablet secured to the dash in some way. In other words, these are computers too and will take up much less space than an old radio would from the 80’s.
