2023 GMC Sierra White Wheel Arch Moldings Unavailable To Order

GM Authority has learned that certain body-color wheel arch moldings (RPO code SF6) are currently unavailable to order on the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 and 2023 GMC Sierra HD pickups due to a supply shortage.

Body-color wheel arch moldings are intended to give the 2023 GMC Sierra a more uniform exterior appearance by replacing the flat-black plastic wheel arch moldings that come standard on the pickup with body-color components.

The body-color wheel arch moldings that are currently unavailable to order on the light-duty GMC Sierra 1500 include Summit White (paint code GAZ) and White Frost Tricoat (G1W). Only the Summit White wheel arch moldings are unavailable to order on the 2023 GMC Sierra HD.

While the two white wheel arch moldings are not available to order on the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500, customers can still purchase them in Sterling Metallic (GXD), Volcanic Red Metallic (GNT), Dynamic Blue Metallic (GLT) and Onyx Black (GBA). On the Sierra HD, the moldings are still available in White Frost Tricoat, Onyx Black, Cayenne Red Tintcoat (GSK) and Quicksilver Metallic (GAN).

The SF6 body-color wheel arch moldings are a $750 option on the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 and an $845 option on the 2023 GMC Sierra HD. They are not available to order on the entry-level Pro trim.

Production of the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 will commence on August 29th, which applies to both Regular Cab and Crew Cab models. Meanwhile, production of Double Cab models will commence one week later on September 6th. GM began building the 2023 GMC Sierra HD on July 18th, 2022. Production of the GMC Sierra HD takes place at the GM Flint plant in Michigan and GM Oshawa plant in Ontario, while poduction of the GMC Sierra 1500 takes place at the GM Fort Wayne and GM Silao plants.

  1. These should be standard on the trucks, not an optional accessory. A small change that would make all of the trucks look more premium.

    1. I disagree. I think they make your truck look like a pavement princess because they’re in the worst place for paint to get damaged by rocks and sand thrown up by the tires. On cars without these, the body paint takes the brunt and gets damaged, eventually leading to wheel arch rust.

Besides, the unpainted ones form a continuous line with the black lower air dams, black running boards, and the black BedSteps. Otherwise, you get the picture above where you got a white truck with random disjointed black patches in it.

    2. There should not be any cheap black plastic on a $65,000 truck, period. It screams cheap and looks cheap!

  2. I like them, let the molding take the beating from rocks or road salt. Just be sure to hose off well on the underside to get trapped debris out. They provide a benefit.

  3. Why does the Chevy 2022, 1500 diesel 3.0 have more towing power then the GMC Sierra Denali diesel 1500, 3.0

    1. The Denali has standard features like power seats and running boards make it heavier and eat into payload and towing weight.

    2. I believe it is slightly derated due to the adaptive ride control suspension
