GM has released what will likely be the final official teaser image of the next-generation 2023 GMC Canyon before the mid-size pickup truck makes its official debut on August 11th.
This teaser image provides a glimpse of the new 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X model with the exclusive First Edition package. GM did not say what the First Edition package for the new Canyon AT4X will entail, however these limited-run launch models typically come fully loaded and with exclusive cosmetic features like different exterior and interior trim or upholstery. GM will begin accepting customer reservations for the new Canyon AT4X with the First Edition package immediately following the truck’s debut next week.
The automaker says the teaser image also provides a sneak peek of the next-generation Canyon’s “higher and wider stance,” which is factory lifted on the AT4X trim level for optimal off-road ground clearance. Spy shots taken by GM Authority photographers previously revealed this tougher new stance, which will be accentuated by aggressive exterior design cues such as a large grille with horizontal slats and narrow, horizontally-mounted LED headlamps. We also know the next-gen GMC Canyon will feature a rear CornerStep bumper and may also be offered with the automaker’s MultiPro tailgate.
In addition to a completely new exterior design, the next-generation 2023 GMC Canyon will also feature a brand-new interior design, with an overall layout that will take a nod from the refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. Like the recently unveiled 2023 Chevy Colorado, the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine will reside under the hood and will be offered in multiple states of tune, while the new-generation GM 8L90 eight-speed automatic will be the sole transmission option. Under the skin will be an updated version of the current truck’s GMT31XX platform, while production will take place at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri.
GM Authority will have complete details on the 2023 GMC Canyon following its debut on August 11th. In the meantime, be sure to subscribe for more GMC Canyon news, GMC news, and around-the-clock GM news coverage.
