2023 GMC Acadia Gets New Volcanic Red Tintcoat Color: First Look

The 2023 GMC Acadia adds three new exterior colors to its palette: Sterling Metallic, Ultra Blue Metallic, and Volcanic Red Tintcoat. Here’s our first look at the new Red hue.

Assigned RPO code GNT and touch-up paint code WA-170H, Volcanic Red Tintcoat is one of eight exterior colors offered on the midsize crossover, which include:

  • Ebony Twilight Metallic
  • Hunter Metallic
  • Light Stone Metallic
  • Summit White
  • White Frost Tricoat
  • Sterling Metallic (new for 2023)
  • Ultra Blue Metallic (new for 2023)
  • Volcanic Red Tintcoat (new for 2023)

The Volcanic Red Tintcoat color is an extra-cost item that adds an additional $645 to the crossover’s price. It is available on all trim levels and can be combined with all Acadia interior colorways.

For reference, here are all three available interior colorways offered on the 2023 Acadia:

  • Cocoa/Light Ash Gray
  • Dark Galvanized/Light Shale
  • Jet Black

The 2023 GMC Acadia represents the seventh model year of the second-generation Acadia, introducing a few changes and updates before the arrival of the all-new, third-generation Acadia for the 2024 model year. The 2023 Acadia continues to be available with two engine options, starting with the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine, rated at 228 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 258 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm. Customers can also select the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, rated at 310 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 271 pound-feet of torque. Both engines connect to the GM nine-speed automatic transmission.

To note, the atmospheric 2.5L I4 LCV gasoline engine, which is rated at 193 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and 188 pound-feet of torque at 4,400 rpm, was deleted for the 2022 model year.

The Acadia rides on the regular wheelbase, narrow track version of the GM C1 platform. Production of the 2023 GMC Acadia kicked off June 10th, 2022 at the GM Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.

  1. I’m having difficulty ascertaining what color the paint actually is because some parts appear burgundy and other parts appear crimson. Is this a high gloss paint or are these images only trying to simulate gloss and maybe overdid it a little?

    1. The new red tint coat looks dull to me too, I liked the older version much better and the ugly black wheels don’t help either.

  2. All the cheap overdone black plastic low rent cladding make the color look darker and more drab than it probably is in person.

  3. That new red, not my favorite, would look a lot better with with some bright shiny wheels and trim.

  4. How the Acadia looks really depends on how it is dressed up… I have a 2022 Acadia Denali in “Satin Steel Metallic” combined with all the chrome and the lower body panels painted to match. It is a very good-looking vehicle… The black plastic body side panels cheapen the overall look of the vehicle.
