Dropping in as the eighth model year of the sixth-gen sports car, the 2023 Chevy Camaro introduces a handful of changes and updates compared to the preceding 2022 model year. Now, however, GM Authority has learned that the 2023 Chevy Camaro offers reduced availability for the lowered suspension option.
According to GM Authority sources, the lowering suspension upgrade system offered for the 2023 Chevy Camaro Convertible is no longer available to order for 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT trim levels. Tagged with RPO code SG3 and priced at $2,095, the lowering suspension upgrade system is still available to order for 2023 Chevy Camaro Convertible LT1, 1SS, and 2SS trim levels. The suspension upgrade is not offered for ZL1 trims.
The lowering suspension upgrade system is offered as an LPO-level option, which means it is installed by the dealer, rather than at the factory when the vehicle is initially produced. The upgrade optimizes vehicle handling while lowering vehicle ride height by as much as 20mm (0.79 inches), and includes front and rear coil springs, front struts, rear shocks, and replacement fasteners where required.
Meanwhile, the lowering suspension upgrade system is still available to order for 2023 Chevy Camaro Coupe models, including 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, LT1, 1SS, and 2SS trim levels. The upgrade is not offered at all for 1LS and ZL1 trims.
As GM Authority covered previously, the 2023 Chevy Camaro’s SS 1LE Track Package is also currently under constraint, and is limited to just 20 percent of its usual build rate as a result of a supplier issue. That said, this SS 1LE Track Package constraint is expected to lift in October, making the package more widely available to order.
As a reminder, the Chevy Camaro is available with a quartet of engine options, including the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LTG gasoline engine, the atmospheric 3.6L V6 LGX gasoline engine, the atmospheric 6.2L V8 LT1 gasoline engine, and finally, the supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine. The Chevy Camaro rides on the GM Alpha platform, while production takes place at the GM Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan.
