General Motors has just launched the 2023 Cadillac CT5 range in China, introducing a new variant incorporating Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving technology for the first time in the luxury sedan built in the Asian country.
The new 2023 Cadillac CT5 variant that introduces the Super Cruise assisted driving system to the lineup in China is called Platinum Super Cruise, an additional trim level that debuts an enhanced version of GM’s semi-autonomous technology in that country. According to the automaker, the system will offer a smarter driving experience with additional comfort and convenience options.
Notably, the 2023 Cadillac CT5 becomes the luxury brand’s second vehicle to offer Super Cruise in China since the system’s local introduction in 2018. Until now, this technology was exclusive to the flagship Cadillac CT6 sedan in the Chinese market. Super Cruise is now available for use on more than 320,000 km (about 200,000 miles) of expressways and virtually all urban elevated highways connected to expressways in China.
The enhanced version of the Super Cruise driving system for China debuting in the 2023 Cadillac CT5 has expanded capabilities, now including on-demand lane change and automatic lane change for the first time in the Chinese-market variant of the system. Additionally, the upgraded Super Cruise also provides a more intuitive user interface and promises refined driving dynamics.
Thanks to improved hardware and more advanced software algorithms, the 2023 Cadillac CT5 Super Cruise’s Lane Change On Demand feature allows the system to change lanes on compatible highways when requested by the driver. As with the automatic lane change function, the system determines when to do so and initiates the maneuver on its own following the signaling protocols.
The 2023 Cadillac CT5 Platinum Super Cruise is now available for sale throughout the Cadillac dealer network in China, where it becomes the model’s new range-topping variant. As such, the 2023 CT5 Platinum Super Cruise includes the highest level of equipment available and shares the Sport trim level’s blacked-out appearance. The price of the Cadillac CT5 Platinum Super Cruise is 360,700 CNY, about $53,430 USD at current exchange rates.

China…who cares?!?!? Maybe get off their a$$ and update it for the US and not charge for it! It is absolutely another GM blunder. I have purchased GM cars, not SUV’s, CUV’s or mall-crawler pickups, since I have been driving for 56 years. Currently have 2-Cadillac CT6’s and sad to say they will be the last GM full-sized luxury sedans I’ll be able to purchase.
I don’t understand why Genesis, BMW and Mercedes can produce luxury sedans, but GM can’t? Mary and her crew need to move to China since that is all they care about.
You want Super Cruise on your Cadillac? You can, provided you get a Chinese passport and move to People’s Republic of China. I would prefer if Mary Barra is shipped out to China, permanently.
I don’t get it–a few 2023 Cadillac CT5’s on dealer lots in the NW–but can’t build a 2023 Cadillac CT5 on the Cadillac website–it’s almost September! What gives Cadillac—just care about EV’s and nothing else?
