2023 Buick Encore GX Safety Package No Longer Available

The 2023 Buick Encore GX is the fourth model year of the first-generation crossover, debuting only a handful of changes and updates compared to the 2022 model year. Now, however, GM Authority has learned that the 2023 Buick Encore GX is currently unavailable to order with certain safety tech features.

According to GM Authority sources, the 2023 Buick Encore GX is unavailable to order with the optional Safety Package, which is tagged with RPO code WPD. To note, this package was unavailable to order since the start of production for the 2023 model year.

The Safety Package for the Buick Encore GX includes the following features (relevant RPO codes listed in parentheses):

The WPD Safety package for the Buick Encore GX was previously available for the Preferred trim level during the 2022 model year, and was priced at $895. As such, these four safety tech features are no longer available for the base trim level.

Moving forward, the 2023 Buick Encore GX is available with the Safety Package II (RPO code PCW), which is priced at $200 and includes Rear Cross Traffic Alert, as well as Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert. Safety Package II is offered as optional for Select and Essence trim levels.

Additionally, the 2023 Buick Encore GX is also available with the Advanced Technology Package (RPO code WPA), which includes the following content:

  • 8-inch diagonal Buick Infotainment System with Navigation (IOU)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (KSG)
  • Rear Park Assist (UD7)
  • HD Surround Vision (UV2)
  • Head-Up Display (UV7)

The Advanced Technology Package for the 2023 Buick Encore GX is optional for Select and Essence trim levels, and is priced at $1,935.

As a reminder, the 2023 Buick Encore GX is available with two engine options, including the turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, and the turbocharged 1.3L I3 L3T gasoline engine. Under the skin is the GM VSS-F vehicle set. Production takes place at the GM Bupyeong plant in South Korea.

  2. I thought Mary said gm vehicles will have more safety features that other companies have as standard. I guess not. Supply procurements management need to go. The world is looking for employment with so many people unemployed.

    1. It is comparable. They’re rear sonar is no longer available, which has no longer been standard after backup cams became required by law.

  3. Its all there under different packages. More$$$$ . Harder for a sales person to explain? Still over expensive compared to Japanese or Korean suvs and not on lots
