2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 Heated Seat Retrofits Under Way

GM has launched a Customer Satisfaction Program to begin retrofitting heated seats in certain 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 and Silverado 1500 Limited trucks that were impacted by the semiconductor chip shortage.
Certain 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 and Silverado 1500 Limited models were produced without heated/ventilated front seats, heated front seats and/or rear heated seats as a result of the chip shortage. Owners were made aware their vehicle lacked these features at the time of purchase, with GM committing to retrofitting them into these vehicles at a later date and providing owners with a small discount in exchange for the absence of these components.
GM began producing trucks without heated and/or ventilated seats in November 2021 to ensure it could keep producing the vehicles even though it lacked certain electronic components. It will now retrofit vehicles affected by this decision with the missing components. Owners of affected vehicles that do not participate in this Customer Satisfaction Program will not be able to have heated and/or ventilated seats installed in their vehicle once the base bumper-to-bumper warranty expires. Chevy’s standard limited warranty covers any defects in materials or workmanship for up to 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.
Dealer technicians will install the heated/ventilated front seats, heated front seats and/or rear heated seats in affected vehicles and update the vehicle’s body control module (BCM). Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by GM once parts become available, at which point they will be able to bring their vehicle in for service.
GM will shift to production of the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 on August 29th, which applies to both Regular Cab and Crew Cab models. Production of Double Cab models, meanwhile, will begin a week later on September 6th. The light-duty truck is produced at the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, the GM Silao plant in Mexico and the GM Oshawa plant in Ontario.

Do you know if the the heated steering applies also?
How about GMC Sierra 2500 / 3500 HD retrofits?

What is GM Customer Satisfaction program? All I can find is a list of vehicles that GM has to fix issues. I have to sign up for that? Or just wait for the letter to show up in the mail based on my VIN? Can you include a link if there is more
When I bought my 22 GMC refreshed in March of 2022 I was assured all the missing pieces would be available and installed by July. That has come and gone and no word from GM. I did get $50.00 bucks off the rediculously high price.
Spoke to my sales person on MI this morning. He said the dealership received communication from GM last Friday, which is the first communication since June 2nd that retrofits are underway and they will notify the dealership when the parts can be ordered for each customer’s vehicle for heated and cold seats which they anticipate completing by the end of Q3 which is 5 weeks away. The heated steering wheel will come by the end of Q4. That’s the latest communication direct from my dealership, which they received from GM. Check with your dealership to see if they have the same communication.
I bought a 2022 GMC 2500 At4. Waiting on retro fitted ventilated/heats seats and the park sensors. My local dealer had zero clue this was happing. Like a deer in headlights.
Maybe ANOTHER class action suit might be required. I would like some action on the seats and steering wheel before winter.
What about the previous model years? I owned a 2014 Silverado that had “terrible” heating seats as well as my current 2019 model. They never did fix the issues.
What about the people still waiting for their truck that’s sitting in a lot for the last 3 months? #Ijustwantmytruck
Dealer technicians will install the heated/ventilated front seats, heated front seats and/or rear heated seats in affected vehicles and update the vehicle’s body control module (BCM).
What? it was my understanding that all the components of the seats, heating elements for example, were already in place. The missing item was a semiconductor contained in the area where the switch to control the heated seats was located.
A simple five minute fix in the case of heated seats. This article seems to suggest the seats will be replaced or taken apart and have components/elements installed there. Does anyone really know what’s going on with this retrofit?
My dealer says it’s just the switches. But they have not done a single retrofit yet. So that part greatly concerns me because GM is saying they were starting this back in June and now they are saying they will start this on August 1st. Here it is August 23rd and my dealership has not done a single retrofit. So who is getting a retrofit? Found out today my 2500 HD does not have the white Rancho Shocks in the front, and get this, there is no RPO code sticker in the glove box. How am I supposed to verify what is in the truck build? Sent another email request to my dealership to provide some answers. Sadly, it does not seem like they are getting answers from GM so not only are the customers lacking information, so are the dealerships. What is really concerning is that GM is starting next week to build the 2023 model year next, and it seems too many people don’t have the retrofits for the 2022 model year. I believe it is the same thing with the 2500 and 3500 models which will see the 2023 model year start after the 1500. And common sense says that GM will retrofit the 1500s before they retrofit the 2500s and 3500’s.
Meanwhile in blue oval land, I have a 2022 F250 Lariat Super Duty on order since Nov 2021 and Ford is said to be starting production of the 2023 model year Super Duty in mid-October. And yet I just received a letter from Ford stating they do not have the parts to start building my 2022 F250. So now what? Will there be 2023 Ford Super Dutys out there before I receive my 2022 SD?
Scott, On my ’21Silverado 1500 the RPO codes on on the driver side door jam. It’s a 3d barcode I believe they call it. But when I scanned it with my phone it rendered all the three character RPO codes. Hope this helps.
Thanks Will. I found the bar code inside drivers door. Funny thing, my dealer didn’t know this.
Count me in for the class action suit! I’m sick and tired of the excuses. They had no problem taking my 70k when I purchased the truck!
Took my 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 HD 84 into the dealer yesterday to have the front Rancho Shocks installed since GM just installed regular shocks to get it out the door 9 months ago. In talking to the three service managers they all felt that the latest plan from GM is to retrofit by model rather than by purchase date and obviously they would start with the vehicles they have sold the most of and work their way down to the ones they have sold the least of sounds like the 2500 and 3500 trucks are closer to the bottom than the top. Sadly, I feel like it’s going to be another 6 months. Beginning to look into how to make my own.
Every dealer has access to an aftermarket seat heater install – if y0u push hard enough – they will get them for you but then you have to push harder for them to actually pay for them. My prior truck (Chevy Silverado work truck 3500 diesel dually, didnt have heated seats do I had the dealer install aftermarket seal heaters as part of our “deal”. They worked fine and now it looks like I’m going to have to go this route for my 2022 Chevy Silverado (with the heated seats missing! So frustrating
I also have a 2022 chevy silverado rst has all the features including heated steering wheel but no heated seat chip.. gm sent out email last month saying it will be end of quarter well thats done and gone amd winter is right around the corner.. if i woulda known gm was pulling this money grab stunt i woulda went elsewhere
They say the chip shortage is easing up but i say thats a lie.. my dealer has not got any for my 22 chevy and iv had it since feb of this year. And far as i know there is no aftermarket chip they can put in for the seats.. i say all this was a money grab from gm and they dont care about us anymore they got there money.. i think its time.to get a class action suit going lets do this!!
This is outrageous – I bought my truck in Maine and have it serviced in NJ. Neither dealer will commit as to when the seat heaters are coming in. I have a 3500 diesel dually Chevy Silverado that I paid over 60K for… I am thinking that this is the worst customer service for such an expensive truck. No-one seems to know the real story and worse – no-one seems to care except for the suckers (like me) who paid up front for delivery of an item, that we have no delivery dates for! Waiting 1 month is reasonable, waiting over 6 months is ridicules! Common Chevy/GMC… don’t be this kind of company!
I taked to the rep at my dealership that talks directly to gm and she told me that the chip for the seats are all go by the vin of the vechicle whitch i think is a lie. She told me its made just for that certain truck. And could not tell me when this would be said a letter would be coming from gm.. and its been since march of this year… im ready to get this lawsuit going agaisnt them.
I talked to my local dealership here in Virginia. They stated that you will receive a notice in the mail that you can goto the dealership you purchased your truck at and they will order the chip/steering wheel for retrofit. Not sure if that is just the run around answer or what.
Any retrofits yet??? Anybody??
I called GM directly and they said there were no updates on when the chips would be available. I called the dealership I purchased my truck from here in Ohio and they said the same thing (You will get a letter in the mail from GM to let you know when the chips are in for your truck). I did ask if they had installed any chips in Silverados. They said they install chips in one this week and one last week. I just hope I’m not stuck with a brand new truck that has 3 missing features.
Thanks for the update. I have a 2022 LTD LTZ Premium with the Z71 package and 6 2. It wasn’t a cheap truck and I want all the features working.
