An upcoming small sedan from Chevrolet has just been fully leaked in China, after the vehicle was spotted in the Asian country earlier this year as a future Wuling global hatchback bearing the Chevy logo.
Chinese media have released an official statement by SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) to local authorities with the patent images of Chevrolet’s upcoming small sedan, which is being developed by General Motors’ second joint venture in China on the basis of an upcoming Wuling global vehicle. Currently, the manufacturer supplies several models that Chevrolet sells in emerging markets.
As patent images reveal, this small Chevrolet sedan is basically the same vehicle that was leaked in April, with a five-door hatchback body and a Wuling logo, that GM Authority exclusively reported. In particular, said car will be the first of the new family of models with the Global Silver logo of the Chinese brand that GM plans to launch in international markets as the bowtie brand’s entry model.
Aesthetically, Chevrolet’s as-yet-unnamed upcoming small sedan retains the same design cues from Wuling’s latest-generation vehicles, such as the rectangular headlight format and signature grille styling. In addition, it highlights a generously-sized trunk, horizontal taillamps in an elevated position, and a rear bumper that includes two exposed exhaust outlets.
Although there is no official indication yet to support it, this upcoming Chevrolet small sedan and its hatchback variant could become the fourth generation of the Chevy Sail. The current version of the Sail, sold in Mexico as the Chevy Aveo, has had a high level of acceptance in several international markets and has widely led sales in countries such as Chile, Colombia and Mexico.
Chevrolet’s upcoming small sedan is expected to debut over the next few months in an emerging market outside of China where Chevy has a brand presence, but not Wuling. As has recently happened with the Chevy Captiva and Groove, it is very likely that the main export market for the model will be Latin America.

I guess it’s good to know they don’t try and other markets either.
Remind me of an early Saturn concept with very similar front end and proportions.
Looks like a VW Passat. Boring to say the least, maybe the RS will spice it up a little bit.
The tail looks like the Malibu. Chevy must return small sedans to the U.S. and all of the Americas . There is a need for small sedans and only the Asians are selling them.
So cute! Come on GM, this needs to be in the US and Canadian market
And another GM vehicle that won’t see the light of day in the USA. So disappointed GM releasing some interesting cars and trucks that are not even considered for release here.
Want an SUV? We got one for every size class. Want it EV? More coming soon. Want an economical or sporty sedan? Sorry.
LATAM used to get old Opel models but now sells Chinese cars. It doesn’t look horrible. Better than the US Sonic and has a VW vibe
That front looks like the outgoing Dodge Journey.
It looks like something from 2005, but I’d be willing to bet they are priced really cheap.
Looks like a mix between a Sonic and a Volkswagen
oh man … it has millions cars equal of that in street, nothing new, a maybe Chevrolet Onix, a VW, a Hyundai etc…
And this have antique technology in sheet metal A-Pillar close and at doors Roof part. The front is total ugly as ever.
Not an EV ? I guess GM is just trying to save the USA and not the planet.
indeed they said all GM would be eletric, seems a lie, in Brasil GM produces none EV
