The midsize and full-size mainstream crossover segment, which encompasses crossovers with a starting price in the vicinity of $30,000 with both two and three rows, contracted 21 percent to 470,007 units during Q2 2022, meaning Acadia sales severely underperformed the segment average.
The GM Authority Take
While the GMC Acadia didn’t post the biggest decline in its competitive segment, its performance certainly isn’t one to be envious of. As with most other vehicles across the entire automotive industry, the Acadia was plagued with production shutdowns stemming from the ongoing global microchip shortage, resulting in a low supply scenario at the dealer level. Production of the 2023 GMC Acadia recently began on June 10th and is currently in full swing, which should enable Acadia sales volume to post a healthy rebound during the second half of 2022.
Beyond that, there are plenty of changes headed the Acadia’s way for the 2024 model year, as GMC will overhaul (redesign and re-engineer) the vehicle. The biggest change for the next-gen Acadia will be a return to full-size dimensions, much like the first-generation model that preceded the current, second-gen. This next-gen Acadia will feature a longer wheelbase, allowing for a more spacious cabin and a bigger third-row seat, while also delivering more cargo room.
We recently snapped some photos of a 2024 Acadia prototype undergoing testing, giving us a good look at its exterior proportions. Though the tester is wearing a bunch of heavy camouflage, we can conclude with certainty that the upcoming model has a more upright stance reminiscent of the full-size GMC Yukon.

dealers cannot sell what they can not get on their lots…
So many sitting on lots are Turbo 4 not V6 models.
I got one of the V6 models, GMC Acadia Denali AWD in Satin Steel Metalic… Had to shop GMC online and put out a wide search net… The dealer had just got the SUV in after waiting for it for 9 months. From the start of the search for the vehicle to it being in my driveway, it took only a week and a half… BTW, the V6 is the right motor for this vehicle. I would not have been happy with the little 4 banger.
