GM Confirms Chevy Silverado Introduction In Brazil

Nearly two years after GM Authority exclusively reported that General Motors planned to introduce the Chevy Silverado in Brazil, the automaker has just officially confirmed its plan to market the full-size pickup starting in 2023 in the South American country.

GM’s South American subsidiary confirmed that the Chevy Silverado 1500 is part of the unprecedented offensive that the company is preparing in the pickup category in Brazil, where it aims to offer the best and most comprehensive line of trucks in the Brazilian market as of next year. As such, the Silverado will join the next-generation Chevy Montana to expand Chevrolet’s offering in one of the fastest-growing segments in the country.

“In addition to the New Montana, we are preparing another big news: the Silverado,” said President of GM South America, Santiago Chamorro, in an official statement. “Silverado is here to serve the consumer looking for a premium large pickup truck, with the highest level of technology and spectacular performance,” he added.

The current fifth-generation Chevy Silverado will become the next flagship in the Bow Tie brand’s second largest volume market worldwide, strengthening its presence in Brazil with the most emblematic and profitable model in the portfolio. In fact, GM Brazil will take advantage of the strong commercial image of the Silverado to support the launch of the next-generation Chevy Montana and Chevy S10.

Notably, the reintroduction of the Chevy Silverado in Brazil will come after a local two-decade absence. The company marketed the last generation of the Chevrolet C/K under the Silverado nameplate in the Brazilian market until 2001, so the name of Chevrolet’s iconic full-size pickup is widely recognized by the Brazilian public.

The Chevy Silverado is expected to arrive in Brazil imported from the GM Silao plant in Mexico at the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2023, which will be the most momentous year in the history of Chevrolet pickups in the local market. With the arrival of the new Montana, S10 and Silverado next year, Chevrolet will have representatives in the three most important categories of the Brazilian market pickup category.

  1. How about introducing the Silverado in the US.
I’ve been trying to get one for a year now….!
    How pathetic is that !
Corporate says that there is nothing they can do to assure me that I’m going to get one…
    Yet they continue to advertise!
Yet they continue to offer incentives..
WHAT ABOUT JUST MAKING TRUCKS FOR AMERICANS!
THE WAY IT USED TO BE!

    1. Mary, let’s just spread those semi-conductor chips a little thinner… remember the fields and fields of unfinished vehicles waiting for chips and their owners that have waited up to a year?

Mary, If brains were dynamite, you would be the safest person on this planet!

  4. Brazil is one of the most no nonsense countries out there. They are 100% anti “great reset”/“build back badder”.

Brazil, welcome to the American way of life, may you enjoy its pleasures and never forsake it.

  6. Not to knock Brazil, but how much did they contribute to bailing these A holes out ? Anything new and exciting goes to Asia and South America. Whatever is left over, and that’s not much, goes to the U.S. and Canada.

  8. If it’s a high-end Silverado, LTZ or high country, you’re not gonna get it. My first order started in September 2021with a three-quarter ton, duramax. That Ended up being canceled in March 2022 . In April 2022 ordered a half ton diesel LTZ, got a VIN #, build date, (May23) then Im told it is setting in a lot in Mexico with a status of MP. NO EXPLANATION OF WHAT THE MP are so maybe I can make a choice to retrofit. No information at all!! But I read this article and so many others forecasting into 2023 , EV’s, with no mention on solving the problem of here!! WTF!
