First 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V Fetches $525,000 For Charity3
The first production 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V sold for $525,000 at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas this past weekend, with all proceeds from the sale benefitting the Pensole Lewis College of Business and Design in Michigan.
In addition to the vehicle itself, the winning bidder of the Escalade-V will also get the chance to work with D’Wayne Edwards, the founder of the Pensole Lewis College of Business and Design and a noted athletic footwear designer, to create their own one-of-one sneakers. GM also donated a track day at the Ron Fellows Spring Mountain experience and a digital rendering photograph of the vehicle to the winning bidder.
“On behalf of everyone at the Pensole Lewis College of Business & Design, we’re thrilled to collaborate with Barrett-Jackson and Cadillac as the beneficiary for the auction of the first-ever V-series Escalade,” Dr. Edwards said in a statement ahead of this past weekend’s auction. “Car enthusiasts know better than most that the art of design goes beyond the eyes and into the soul. From what we wear to what we drive, design is an expression of who we are, and we’re proud that the proceeds of this auction are an investment in the next generation of creative design.”
The winning bidder of the VIN 001 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V will now select their preferred Cadillac dealer, with their vehicle to be delivered by that dealer once production begins later this year. While a 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V was present on the auction block in Las Vegas for the sale, this was a pre-production model that is only representative of the vehicle the winning bidder will receive.
As many readers around these parts will already know, the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V comes packing GM’s supercharged 6.2L V8 LT4 gasoline engine, which delivers an impressive 682 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 653 pound-feet of torque at 4,400 rpm. All that muscle is sent to the ground via the GM 10-speed automatic transmission, which connects to a full-time all-wheel drive system. Production will commence at the GM Arlington plant in Texas later this summer.
