The 2023 GMC Sierra HD introduces only a few small changes and updates compared to the previous 2022 model year, with the upcoming 2024 model year set to introduce a full model refresh. Now, however, a constraint for a 2023 GMC Sierra HD park assist feature has been lifted.
As GM Authority covered previously, the start of regular production for 2023 GMC Sierra HD was originally set to launch with a constraint in place for the heavy-duty pickup’s Front and Rear Park Assist feature (RPO code UD5). Now, however, GM Authority has learned that the constraint has since been resolved.
The start of regular production for the 2023 GMC Sierra HD got underway on Monday, July 18th.
The Front and Rear Park Assist feature for the 2023 GMC Sierra HD is offered as an optional extra for the base-level Pro trim level in conjunction with the 1SA Driver Alert Package I (RPO code PQA), while the feature is optional for SLE, SLT, and AT4 trims in conjunction with the Driver Alert Package I (RPO code PQB). Front and Rear Park Assist is included as standard for Denali trim levels.
Notably, the light-duty 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 recently faced a similar situation, with constraints in place for the Rear Park Assist feature (RPO code UD7), as well as the front and rear Park Assist feature. Those constraints have since been resolved.
The 2023 GMC Sierra HD was originally set to introduce a full model refresh, but as a result of complications arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, the refresh was pushed back to the 2024 model year instead.
Under the hood the 2023 GMC Sierra HD is available with two powertrain options, including the atmospheric 6.6L V8 L8T gasoline engine, which is rated at 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque, and the 6.6L V8 L5P turbodiesel Duramax engine, which is rated at 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque. Production takes place at the GM Flint plant in Michigan.

hey
What is the status of the “to be installed by dealer later” chips for park assist and heated seats and steering wheel I’m waiting for on my 2022 HD?
What about all the 2022 trucks shipped without this that are to be installed later. Please provide update. Thanks
