The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 hits the scene as the fifth model year for the fourth-generation light-duty pickup, debuting a handful of minor changes compared to the fully refreshed 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. Now, GM Authority has learned that the previous park assist feature constraint for the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 has been resolved.
According to GM Authority sources, the park assist feature constraint for the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 has been resolved as of July 11th production. The constraint in question previously applied to the Rear Park Assist feature (RPO code UD7) for 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 Pro, SLE, and Elevation trim levels, all three of which normally offer the feature as an optional extra. Additionally, the constraint applied to the Front and Rear Park Assist feature (RPO code UD5) for SLT and AT4 trim levels, while AT4X, Denali, and Denali Ultimate trim levels were unaffected. The Front and Rear Park Assist feature is normally offered as an optional upgrade for the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT trim, and equipped as standard on 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4, AT4X, Denali, and Denali Ultimate trim levels.
Notably, the park assist feature constraint is still in place for the 2023 GMC Sierra HD.
One of the most important updates arriving with the debut of the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 is the introduction of the new 3.0L I6 LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax, which replaces the 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel in the Sierra 1500 powertrain lineup as the “second iteration” of the Duramax 3.0L six-cylinder engine configuration.
Beyond the new diesel engine, the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 also offers three other powertrain options. These include the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, the naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, and finally, the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine. Providing the underlying architecture is the GM T1 platform. Finally, production takes place at the GM Silao plant in Mexico, as well as the GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana.
