For the next few days, GM Authority will be driving this 2022 Chevy Traverse. The 2022 Chevy Traverse introduces a model refresh for the fifth model year of the crossover’s second generation, updating the exterior and the interior.
Production of the refreshed 2022 Chevy Traverse takes place at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan. Motivation is sourced from the naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 LFY gasoline engine, which is rated at 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. Output is routed through the GM 9-speed automatic transmission, with either front-wheel drive of all-wheel drive available to put it to the pavement. Our tester is equipped with all-wheel drive.
Our tester is also an example of the range-topping High Country trim level, and features 20-inch polished-aluminum wheels as standard. Further exterior highlights include a Dual Skyscape Sunroof, heated / power-adjustable / body-color sideview mirrors, LED headlights and taillights, a rear power liftgate with hands-free operation, and chrome roof rails. The exterior is finished in Silver Ice Metallic paint.
Inside, the 2022 Chevy Traverse High Country is equipped with seating for seven, while up front, our tester has an 8-way adjustable power driver seat. There’s also a power-fold third-row 60/40 bench seat and heated rear outboard seats. The front seats are heated and ventilated, while the steering wheel is heated as well.
Infotainment specs include an 8-inch diagonal HD color touchscreen with voice recognition, Bluetooth audio streaming with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 10-speaker Bose stereo system. On the safety and convenience front, the 2022 Chevy Traverse High Country has:
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Rear Camera Mirror
- Rear Park Assist
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert
- Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking
- Following Distance Indicator
- Forward Collision Alert
- Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
- Front Pedestrian Braking
- Intellibeam-Auto High Beam headlights
All of the equipment listed is standard for the 2022 Chevy Traverse High Country. The listed vehicle price, including a destination freight charge of $1,195, is $54,595.
So, with that all covered, we have to ask – what do you want to know about the 2022 Chevy Traverse? Post your questions in the comments section, and we’ll reply as soon as possible.

Is the interior quality as bad as other reviewers like to claim?
I don’t think it’s bad at all. Yes, there are some hard plastics… but to me it’s in the places that one would never touch, unless they’re looking to nitpick.
We shot a video detailing almost every single panel in this vehicle, and should have it in the next few days.
Will this be the last ICE Traverse?
I don’t think it will be the last ICE Traverse.
I own an AWD Traverse. I love it. That’s all.
Any chance for Traverse based on ultium? Considering EV9 is coming?
According to my sources, an EV model sized above the Blazer EV is planned.
Despite GM’s own statements, Ultium is not the platform – it’s the battery architecture. BT1 and BEV3 are the platforms. Whatever slots above Blazer EV will be on BEV3.
OK. WHEN WILL MY NEW TRAVERSE BE READY FOR PICK UP. ORDERED IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR.
CHEVY TRAVERSE RS AWD. I LOVE MY 2019 TRAVERSE.
My daughter ordered a LT leather in February and it was delivered 5/18
I ordered mine last September, it was built in February and I finally took delivery of it Jun 17th.
How does the back seats folded down look ? Since they are bucket seats is there an opening in the middle ?
The second row captain’s chairs fold flat, but yes – there is a space in the middle of them when they’re folded. I can see how that could be problematic on occasion.
Thanks for the question!
When are we going to get our heated seats and heated wheel taken care of on the 22 I have.
You’ll be stiff-armed for another year, then given a coupon good for four oil changes or $250 off on your next GM car.
how is the back storage- all seats down; is it good for a 28″ high 42″ long dog crate?
Allen – yes, such a cage would fit. I measured it out with a tape measure. The cargo area is roughly 33 inches tall and 50 inches long with the third row seats folded down.
When or 2023 Traverse coming out.
Production is set to start on June 20th, 2022.
2 questions – How does the quietness and ride compare to an Enclave.
when will the Chevy and Buick websites be able to build a 2023?
I didn’t have a chance to drive the Traverse back-to-back with the Enclave, so I’d rather not compare the two without driving them back-to-back. But what I will say is that the Traverse is very quiet and comfortable. It’s a very serene and collected vehicle, whether in the city or on the highway.
I don’t have an exact date for the build and price tool for the 2023 Traverse, but production is set to start the week of June 20th… so it should be any day now.
When will pricing for 2023 traverse show up on build page. Been waiting for months
Will second row bench seating be an available option?
Well, the second row bench is available on LS and LT models, but not on RS, Premier or High Country. I do not believe these models will be made available with the bench.

When will the new sage and blue colors be available for the 2022 High Country?
Do traverses have that feature where you can hold the lock button down on the key fob and the mirrors will fold?
can you hold the unlock button on the keyfob and the windows open up?
also what does the alarm sound like? is it a traditional siren alarm or is it just a series of chirps from the horn?
The feature to fold the mirrors by holding the lock button on the key fob is called remote mirror folding, and it does exist on the Traverse. You can also configure a setting to have the mirrors automatically fold when you shut off the vehicle and open the driver’s door.
I was not able to get the windows to open by holding the door unlock button on the key fob, but the owner’s manual does say that the Traverse offers this feature “if equipped.” Will need to dig into this a bit more and will let you know.
The alarm is a traditional horn alarm – the horn honking every second or so.
When a new model comes out can you compare the changes with the previous model?
Is there automatic fold mirrors on the 2022Tresv.
You can set the mirrors to automatically fold when shutting off and exiting the vehicle.
Just got back from a 2,500 mile road trip in our 2022 all wheel drive Traverce. Absolutely love this vehicle.
Indeed John – the Traverse is an excellent road trip companion. It’s so quiet, comfortable and composed, and it eats up miles with ease.
Perhaps you could ask GM why they won’t accept orders for 2023 Traverse feom their dealers. I’ve been trying to order o e since February a d they won’t accept the order.
This one is a bag of unknowns. As far as I know, orders for the 2023 model opened in late April. Are you sure that your dealer isn’t trying to order a model with a constraint? That would prevent the order from being placed/accepted.
Alex, they tried to order a 2022 Premier level Traverse for me in mid February and the order was not accepted. The dealership is a small one but one of the oldest in the US (Luck Chevrolet in Ashland VA). GM hasn’t been accepting other orders from them, but GM sends them fleet vehicles. Frustrating for sure.
Alex, I just spoke with the dealership. The issue seems to be that Chevy is making vehicles for their fleet customers, at the expense of someone like me who wants to buy something. The manager at the dealership said that they are not confident that the dealership won’t have much in the way of allocations from corporate. They’ve received 1 new pickup truck in the last 3 – 4 months. So, it is seems that it is not assured that Chevy will accept my order that has been pending now for 4 months.
Do you offer your GM Authority vehicles for sale? What is the price to purchase this Traverse from GM Authority? How do we purchase?
Phil – most of the vehicles we test are provided by the automaker, so they’re not ours to sell. Thanks for the question 🙂
Chevy started taking orders in April for traverse Premier and Hi Country only. That what my dealer said.
