The GM MyBrand smartphone apps allow owners to get the most out of their Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC vehicles with features like remote start and a vehicle locator. These applications are even more useful with the current and coming crop of electric GM vehicles, as the automaker demonstrated in a recent video promoting the MyGMC app for the GMC Hummer EV Pickup.
In addition to all the usual remote features the app enables, the MyGMC app for the GMC Hummer EV also integrates the automaker’s Energy Assist feature, which allows the user to view the current charge and range of their EV, find and pay for charging sessions at public stations and pre-plan trip routes and charging stops to reduce range anxiety.
One MyGMC feature exclusive to the GMC Hummer, for the time being, is off-road trail mapping, which allows the user to easily find nearby trails and view a top-down map of the driving route. The user can also choose to project this mapping feature onto the vehicle’s infotainment screen so they do not have to look down at their phone while off-roading.
In addition to these newer features, the MyGMC app will also allow the user to turn the vehicle on and off, lock and unlock the doors, view tire pressures, activate the horn and headlamps and view the vehicle’s current location. The app also features controls for the OnStar 4G LTE wi-fi hotspot, if this feature is active in the vehicle, allowing the user to turn it on and off and change the network password. The app also has dedicated buttons for contacting an OnStar advisor and allows the user to easily shop for and activate OnStar subscription plans.
