Produced between 1969 and 1987, and again later between 1994 and 2007, the Chevy Monte Carlo nameplate has seen a total of six generations come and go over the years. Now, this second-gen 1973 Chevy Monte Carlo is up for grabs in a new online auction, sporting a mere 9,000 miles on the odometer.
According to the listing, this 1973 Chevy Monte Carlo was originally delivered new to Kerr Chevrolet in Hastings, Nebraska. The current selling dealer acquired the vehicle in April of this year.
Outside, the Monte’s old-school cool body lines are finished in Light Blue Metallic paint, which is matched to a blue vinyl roof. The corners show off a set of 15-inch Rally wheels with Chevy center caps, with the rollers wrapped in 215.75 Hankook Kinergy ST tires. Chrome bumpers sit at both ends. Understandably, the exterior does show some minor blemishes here and there.
The blue exterior is matched with a full blue interior treatment. Features are abundant, and include highlights like air conditioning (converted to R134a refrigerant in 2016), cruise control, a Delco push-button AM radio, an analog clock, and a locking glovebox. Don’t forget the wood grain on the two-spoke steering wheel, matched with the gauge surrounds behind the wheel.
Providing the motivation in this 1973 Chevy Monte Carlo is a 350 cubic-inch V8 engine topped with a four-barrel carburetor. When new, output from the factory was rated at a maximum of 175 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, all of which is sent rearwards through a three-speed automatic transmission. There’s also some power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes to slow it down.
Now, this 1973 Chevy Monte Carlo is up for grabs on Bring A Trailer at no reserve. The sale includes the window sticker, manufacturer’s literature, sales documentation, and a clean South Dakota title. The current highest bid as of this writing is $12,500, with roughly 19 hours left in the auction

Up until 1974 the 454 cid engine with dual exhaust was available with optional gearing and positraction.
My dad’s was a 75 with a 350 and a low geared posi-trac rear ended. Lots of fun to drive!
I own one, in descent shape. Anybody interested? Make me an offer.
what city you in and what color i want to buy one maybe we can work something out
Hi, do yo still have he Monte?
W O N D E R F U L B E A U T I F U L C A R !
I remember my dad getting one as a rental (I was 7) and I fell in love with it. Still love it.
Such a smooth quiet ride. Huge heavy doors, though.
My high school girlfriend’s dad had one with the swivel seats – I thought that was soooo cool!
A buddy had one when we were in high school. Beautiful car lot of great memories.
Very nice. I love cars from this Era!!!!
gorgeous – I want one for Christmas…..
Nice car, my dad bought a new one in 75, I had just gotten my drivers license, it was fun to drive!
That car is the first year of the 2nd generation. 1970-1972, 1973-1977, 1978-1980, 1981-1988.
This is a SECOND GEN monte carlo. Not “first gen”. Ugh, “GM Authority” ?? Idk bout that.
My Dad had a ’74 burgundy/red Monte Carlo with a half white vinyl roof. I really liked this car. When I see a late model Monte Carlo on the road I don’t hesitate to admire it. Needless to say, I borrowed it often. Many memories, dates, and prom night.
I had a red 74 with oxblood red interior, with the half vynil landau white roof, I also had a green 74 with full white roof that my dad gave me when I was 18
Apologies for the error, post has been updated
I owned a 76 Laguna S3 and had to get rid of it while I was in the military. Blue with black vinyl top, swivel bucket seats, 350 posi trac and man do I miss that car.
Always loved the second and later generation Monte Carlo’s because of the front and rear anti-roll bars as standard equipment. Every Monte Carlo from 1973 on had sporty handling right off the assembly-line.
It’s 1970- 1988 that they made them
The M/C days were numbered in the early ’80s as the Camaro, Caprice coupe and Celebrity coupe did the same thing, Chevy just needed a NASCAR racer. The G-body Olds and Buick was necessary but Chevy and Pontiac had the F-bodies that made their G-coupe redundant.
That’s a nice looking car. I have a 1971 monte carlo copper colored paint. It’s a working process to get back original. A fun car to drive.it has a 350 small block 2 barrel Holley that scoots down the road.
I asked my wife’s boyfriend if I could keep some money 🤑 out of my paycheck for myself. I want to save and be able to own a beautiful car 🚗 like this monte one day. He laughed at me and hung up. Fingers crossed he will get back to me soon. 😀 😜
Good one.
I had an all black ’74 Monte Carlo, with the swivel bucket seats. I loved that car.
The swivel buckets should make a comeback.
