Like-New 1973 Chevy Monte Carlo Up For Auction At No Reserve

Produced between 1969 and 1987, and again later between 1994 and 2007, the Chevy Monte Carlo nameplate has seen a total of six generations come and go over the years. Now, this second-gen 1973 Chevy Monte Carlo is up for grabs in a new online auction, sporting a mere 9,000 miles on the odometer.

According to the listing, this 1973 Chevy Monte Carlo was originally delivered new to Kerr Chevrolet in Hastings, Nebraska. The current selling dealer acquired the vehicle in April of this year.

Outside, the Monte’s old-school cool body lines are finished in Light Blue Metallic paint, which is matched to a blue vinyl roof. The corners show off a set of 15-inch Rally wheels with Chevy center caps, with the rollers wrapped in 215.75 Hankook Kinergy ST tires. Chrome bumpers sit at both ends. Understandably, the exterior does show some minor blemishes here and there.

The blue exterior is matched with a full blue interior treatment. Features are abundant, and include highlights like air conditioning (converted to R134a refrigerant in 2016), cruise control, a Delco push-button AM radio, an analog clock, and a locking glovebox. Don’t forget the wood grain on the two-spoke steering wheel, matched with the gauge surrounds behind the wheel.

Providing the motivation in this 1973 Chevy Monte Carlo is a 350 cubic-inch V8 engine topped with a four-barrel carburetor. When new, output from the factory was rated at a maximum of 175 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, all of which is sent rearwards through a three-speed automatic transmission. There’s also some power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes to slow it down.

Now, this 1973 Chevy Monte Carlo is up for grabs on Bring A Trailer at no reserve. The sale includes the window sticker, manufacturer’s literature, sales documentation, and a clean South Dakota title. The current highest bid as of this writing is $12,500, with roughly 19 hours left in the auction

  10. My Dad had a ’74 burgundy/red Monte Carlo with a half white vinyl roof. I really liked this car. When I see a late model Monte Carlo on the road I don’t hesitate to admire it. Needless to say, I borrowed it often. Many memories, dates, and prom night.

  13. Always loved the second and later generation Monte Carlo’s because of the front and rear anti-roll bars as standard equipment. Every Monte Carlo from 1973 on had sporty handling right off the assembly-line.

  14. It’s 1970- 1988 that they made them

  15. The M/C days were numbered in the early ’80s as the Camaro, Caprice coupe and Celebrity coupe did the same thing, Chevy just needed a NASCAR racer. The G-body Olds and Buick was necessary but Chevy and Pontiac had the F-bodies that made their G-coupe redundant.

  25. In 1972 my dad ordered a black on black/black interior, special wheel covers & trim. First new 2ed gen Monte Carlo in McEwen, Tenn. & everyone wanted to look at that, so kool slick black, Chevy! First NEW car he bought. Untill then i grew up in a 57 Bel Air that dad bought in January of 58 & drag raced every weekend till 1968. The AC, automatic, cloth seats, rear window defog, cruise control, antena in windshield & groovy tail lites on the 73 made us the “kool” family! Sadly my mom got ran off the road in 85 & hurt her back.. the kool black 73 was totaled. A classic car with lots of good memories…

  26. I had one in 82, when I was stationed at hickam Air Force Base Hawaii. 454, swivel buckets, slow in the quarter. only 15.90 but I guess that’s not bad for a 4200 lb car

  27. My buddy at high school had a green 1976 Monte with the std 305 2BBL and it was gutless and had a worn cam. We installed a hi po replacement and swapped out to a 4BBL intake and carb from another parts car and it would literally smoke the rear tire and was a lot of fun. Small blocks of this generation could make some real power for little money and a little time and elbow grease thrown at them.

  30. 1st MC was a ’76 that I special ordered in ’75, got in October 1975. it was dark blue metallic with silver blue half VT over white bucket seat interior and had every available option except for a sunroof because I had Hurst Hatch T-tops installed afterwards and then Tru Spoke wire wheels with Radial TAs. 2nd was a ’74 w/350 auto; then a ’71 with a 350 auto; moved to Washington state and got a different ’71 with a 402 BBC and a 4 speed manual. last one was a ’72 with 16″ IROC wheels but all three first gens were silver with a BVT.

  31. If I got stuck back in the mid-1970s, and was able to smooth-talk my way into a half-way decent paying job, this is what I’d buy.

Make mine electric blue with white landau and maybe a moonroof. And check off cassette in lieu of eight-track, so I could put my bluetooth cassette in the player and blast some Dua Lipa at the beach for the Bicentennial crowd!
