The Hot Wheels Red Line Club is a members-only group of Hot Wheels enthusiasts that have access to exclusive Hot Wheels items, priority access to sales, and access to a members-only forum on the Hot Wheels website. We’ve seen a handful of noteworthy GM vehicles offered up as Hot Wheels RLC products in the past, but this 1990 Chevy 454 SS just may be the coolest one yet.
The 1990 Chevy 454 SS was manufactured between the 1990 and 1993 model years and featured muscle car-like performance thanks to its standard 454 cubic-inch Big Block and relatively light short-bed, regular-cab body style. This engine produced 230 horsepower and a meaty 385 pound-feet of torque, pushing power to the rear wheels through a three-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 automatic transmission. The 454 SS trim also included Bilstein shocks, separate oil and transmission fluid coolers, a quick-ratio steering rack and a heavy-duty front anti-roll bar. These trucks were easy to spot on the road, too, thanks to the standard chrome six-slot wheels and 454 SS exterior decals and badging.

This Hot Wheels recreation of the 1990 Chevy 454 SS features the brand’s ‘Spectraflame’ black paint, along with its Real Riders five-spoke wheels, a working liftgate and a working hood with a replica 454 Big Block hiding beneath it. The interior is also accurate, featuring red upholstery and a center console with cupholders. This truck carries the rather fitting nickname ‘Black Rat’ and has a vanity license plate indicating as much.
This limited-run diecast is only available to Hot Wheels Red Line Club members and as far as we can tell, it’s already sold out. An RLC membership is only $9.99 per year, though, which will provide priority access to future RLC exclusive Hot Wheels models.
