The planned refresh for the 2023 Cadillac XT4 has been delayed beyond the 2023 model year, with the compact crossover set to enter production with minimal changes later this month.
The 2023 Cadillac XT4 will enter production at the GM Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas City, Kansas on June 10th, 2022 with minor changes. GM was initially set to introduce a refreshed XT4 for the 2022 model year before delaying it to 2023. It’s currently unclear if a refreshed Cadillac XT4 will arrive for 2024, or if Cadillac will pursue a different compact crossover strategy in the near future. As we already know, the plan is for Cadillac to transition to a full battery-electric lineup by 2030.
This decision means the Cadillac XT4 will introduce only minor changes for the 2023 model year. This will include a revised exterior paint options list, with Twilight Blue Metallic (paint code GA0), Radiant Silver Metallic (paint code GAN), and Infrared Tintcoat (paint code GSK) set to be dropped from the order book. In place of these colors will be two new hues, including Radiant Red Tintcoat (paint code GNT) and Argent Silver Metallic (paint code GXD).
This also means the Cadillac XT4 will stick with the same engine for the 2023 model year: the turbocharged 2.0L I4 LSY gasoline engine. The output of this turbo four sits at 235 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 258 pound-feet of torque at 1,500 rpm, with power routed to the wheels via the GM nine-speed automatic transmission. Under the body panels, the XT4 rides on the GM E2 platform.
As we reported previously, the next-generation Cadillac XT5 has also been delayed, with GM pushing back the mid-size model’s redesign until at least 2024.
We’ll get more information on the 2023 Cadillac XT4 as its production start date approaches, but the in meantime, be sure to subscribe to GM Authority for more Cadillac XT4 news, Cadillac news, GM production news, and around-the-clock GM news coverage.

(jumping into the future, say 2026) “Sales of Cadillac midsized SUV ranked last in their segment.”. (Insert rolling eyes emoji). Question.. is Mary given “too-much” credit, simply because she’s a woman, while it seems to me that the business flounders around her?
They’ve already said there was a XT4 sized EV coming after the Lyriq. The Lyriq itself was to replace the XT5. My guess is the EV XT4 replacement will be announced in 2023 as a 2025 model that’ll hit the market mid 2024.
They aren’t updating old or developing new ICE vehicles at this point so what you see in the current line-up is what you get until they get replaced with EVs.
It would be a terrible mistake. The automakers aren’t able to move the EV in the same quantity as the ICE vehicles. If every new EV replaces immediately an ICE car, GM will lose a big slice of market share and money. I’m sure they will release at least a next gen XT4 or XT5, maybe both. It’s 8 years until 2030, when Caddy will go full-EV.
For Pete’s sake GM, give the XT4 a long-awaited refresh and keep this model current with the competition. There is strong market demand for compact luxury SUV’s and the XT4 is in dire need of an update. I am in the market for one and desire to buy an American-made model.
Hyundia /Genesis is doing it to their line up. Their is no reason GM can not do the same. Yes they well stop making the Sonata and K5 after 23 model year
Let’s see–production of the 2023 Cadillac XT4 will begin June 10 in Kansas City–probably on about June 17 production of the 2023 Cadillac XT4 will cease for about six months similar to last year.
The notable aspect of this news is that the XT4 refresh was originally planned for the 2022 model, so we now have what amounts to a two-year delay.
