New units of the GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 Pickup are now being delivered, with fresh vehicles rolling off the line in Michigan at the recently renamed GM Factory Zero plant, previously known as Detroit-Hamtramck. Interestingly, this black GMC Hummer EV Pickup is still undergoing real-world testing, as seen in the following GM Authority spy photos.
This black-painted GMC Hummer EV Pickup was last seen in May of 2022 crawling around on a rocky off-road trail. As before, the exterior is finished in all black, including the roof, with the exception of the door handles, the sideview mirrors, and a horizontal strip in the front fascia under the forward-facing lights.
The front skid plate on this black 2023 GMC Hummer EV Pickup is finished in silver, while a pair of black tow hooks dangle from the upper corners. The wheels are done in a two-tone black and silver.
Although this particular example is cleaned up and shiny, it’s definitely the same prototype that was seen sloshing around in the mud back in May. This particular prototype is also equipped with the Extreme Off Road Package, which adds in those 18-inch wheels, 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT tires, underbody skid plates, frame rail rock sliders, and a series of underbody camera to provide intel on possible obstacles.
As a reminder, the GMC Hummer EV Pickup is available in four trim levels, including the EV2, the EV2X, the EV3X, and, at the top of the range, the Edition 1. Output varies, with the EV2 and EV2X putting down 625 horsepower from a pair of electric motors, the EV3X making 800 horsepower from three electric motors, and the Edition 1 making 1,000 horsepower from its three motors. Range is also varied, with more than 300 miles in the upper end of the trim level cadence.
