GM Authority spies have captured an interesting series of photos showing a unique 2023 Corvette Z06 development vehicle equipped with various body-color painted exterior trim pieces.
This car is a 2023 Corvette Z06 Coupe finished in the Amplify Orange Tintcoat exterior color, which wouldn’t be very noteworthy if it weren’t also equipped with never-before-seen body-colour painted exterior trim pieces. These include a body-color front fascia insert, side intake vent trim and rear grille accents.
We’re a bit confused by the presence of these components on this development vehicle. While the body-color side vent trim, front grille insert and rear grille accents are available to order on the standard Corvette C8 Stingray, they will not be offered on the production 2023 Corvette Z06. It seems possible GM will add these parts to the Z06 order book for the 2024 model year or sometime thereafter, however, which may be why the automaker has gone ahead and stuck them on a pre-production model. Either way, these parts make for a unique-looking Corvette Z06 that will not be possible for customers to order for the time being.
The outboard-mounted exhausts on this prototype are also somewhat noteworthy. As we reported previously, Corvette Z06 models destined for certain foreign markets will feature this exhaust setup for emissions reasons.
There’s some other interesting parts about this vehicle, too. While it’s not equipped with the Z07 Performance Package, it does feature the Z07’s available painted carbon fiber wheels. Other noteworthy options and extras include Carbon Flash-painted outside mirrors, a Carbon Flash Metallic-painted carbon fiber ground effects kit and a visible carbon fiber removable roof panel.
Production of the 2023 Corvette Stingray began at the GM Bowling Green plant in Kentucky late last month, but this start date did not apply to the high-performance Z06. Highlights of the 2023 Corvette Z06 include an all-new naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 LT6 gasoline engine, rated at 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, which boasts an impressive 8,600-rpm redline and an exotic-sounding exhaust note. Outside, the new Z06 is easily identifiable thanks to its widebody stance and revised aerodynamics, the latter of which can be upgraded further with the Z07 Performance Package.
The 2023 Corvette Z06 will be offered in both Coupe and Convertible body styles. Pricing is expected to be announced in the near future.

That black trim on the quarter panel looks like a mistake to me, it looks like a “V”. In my opinion the part that shoots back towards the wheel opening should be parallel to the ground rather than shooting upward. And I think it looks worse painted body color…this is only my opinion and I ain’t buying a Z06 so it doesn’t matter.
I’ll order one once they offer the body color trim because it does look better body colored so that opening doesn’t stand out so much. I ordered my red C-8 stingray with red body color trim and I like it without all that black trim but I know some people like the black trim so we are all different and it really doesn’t matter what anybody else likes as long as you like what you bought and if not just sell it lol
Is production on C8 900+ UNITS per week? And will they do weekend builds? to fill back orders?
OUTSTANDING SUPPER CAR..
THANKS GM!!!
I ordered the roughly $1000 option ( maybe $995) for body color painted parts on Stingray, that order got canceled, and prices were raised on other options, so I dropped this . And I do not regret it, it does 2 pieces front and rear, and the boomerrang side vents. You could paint these parts after delivery. I like the contrast.
And your Z06 will be ready to pick at a local dealer, just ask Santa, the Easter Bunny.
Yuck
I have not been a fan of the body colored trim on the Stingray, but I must say this doesn’t look bad. I was already thinking that the Z06 – especially with the Z07 package – looks kind of busy. This is growing on me.
I agree with John, if you have an open mind there are reasons to let the 1 color thing “grow on you”and yea the Z07/Z06 does look busy.
yo
THIS SHOULD BE AN OPTION.
IT GIVES THE CAR A SMOOTHER LONGER LOOK.
I DON’T LIKE THE WISHBONE ON THE SIDE STANDING OUT.
I SAW THIS IN BLACK, SILVER, AND RED METALLIC COLORS.
Makes me wonder if GM is just playing with all of us…putting stuff like this out there just to change the subject from when pricing will come out and ordering will open up…
On this and the Stingray, they just can’t seem to put together a fully coherent package…I like the body color side vent (on this Z06 and the Stingray), but don’t like the body color bits on the front and back…either way, if you opt for the carbon fiber trim, then you still end up with a mix of non-matching carbon and carbon flash paint on the rear lower trim, which doesn’t look great. I think they should ditch the carbon flash paint…1LT/LZ cars should have black plastic standard and 3LT/LZ cars should be standard carbon fiber for all trim pieces…maybe with a la carte trim colors being optional for 2LT/LZ.
Anyway, the best part of this car & pics to me is seeing the CF wheels on a non-Z07…love the wheels (for both looks and weight savings) but hate the Z07 look (big wing and front winglets) that is reportedly required to access those.
It doesn’t matter what the trim color is. It’s needs to be a different orange. Just a thought
