2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 To Lose These Two Paint Colors

The 2023 Chevy Silverado will no longer be offered with two exterior paint colors that were offered on the pickup for the 2023 model year.

GM Authority has learned that the following two colors will be dropped after production of the 2022 Chevy Silverado comes to an end (relevant paint codes listed in parentheses):

  • Cherry Red Tintcoat (GSK)
  • Silver Ice Metallic (GAN)

The Silver Ice Metallic exterior color was available on all trim levels except the High Country, while the Cherry Red exterior color was available on the LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, ZR2, LTZ and High Country trim levels. This is a premium paint option that added $495 to the pickup truck’s price tag. Both the Silver Ice Metallic and Cherry Red Tintcoat exterior colors will be indirectly replaced by the following three new exterior colors on the 2023 model year Chevy Silverado:

  • Harvest Bronze Metallic (GXN)
  • Radiant Red Tintcoat (GNT)
  • Sterling Gray Metallic (GXD)

GM has mild revisions in store for the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500. This will include the introduction of a new LZ0 iteration of the Duramax engine, which will carry similar specs as the current 3.0L I6 LM2 turbodiesel Duramax engine. It’s unclear at this time exactly what the LZ0 will improve upon as compared to the current LM2 engine, but improved fuel economy, lower emissions, or an increase in output and capacities are likely in store.

In addition to the LZ0 turbodiesel Duramax engine, the refreshed 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 will also be available with the turbocharged 2.7L I4 L3B gasoline engine, naturally aspirated 5.3L V8 L84 gasoline engine, and naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 gasoline engine. Production takes place at the GM Silao plant in Mexico, GM Fort Wayne plant in Indiana, and GM Oshawa plant in Canada. Pricing for the 2023 model year Silverado has yet to be announced.

  1. We’ll if they’ve decided to eliminate two of the most popular colors on the road today I guess I would be forced to take my money elsewhere. They’re charging $495 extra for the cherry red tint coat so what’s the difference. I can still get a variance of that color at Ford as much as I dislike Ford. Goodbye GM.

  2. I’m very, very disappointed with GM, they are rendered only dark colors. This is my third High Country, one blue and the last two cherry red. My saleswoman at Nicol Auto in La Sarre Québec told me that GM no longer made Cherry Gray and Red and also no Micro Ship (puse). So I said NO THANK YOU, I don’t want any other color than Cherry Red and I kept my Sylverado Hihg Country 2018, 6.2 L which I like BUT. Since 2011 I’ve been changing my trucks every three years but this time it’s a BIG NO. I looked at you at Ford and Dodge RAM for my Cherry Red color. To bad so sad GM, you will lose a good customer, very very disappointed with you other GM… You can look in your system and you will see that I am not a liar… I would like to have a followup on my comment and I ask you to answer me ASAP…

Why did GM make you their truck model like the Chevy Nova Montana and Siera truck in Brazil… Is it cheaper to make them in this country’s and once in the USA / Canada you are going to charge us consumers more… And for the 2022 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate’s Paldao Wood (wood from a Asia Tree), exterior Trim such as Vader Chrome, 22-inch Whells and GM’s CarbonPro composite Cargo Box, is flown into U.S. from Southeast Asia, pricing starts at $81,790.00 U.S.,. What a bad GM administration… You should give the work to our employers in our two countries USA and Canada, you are not helping our GM economies… You are incompetent…

I am not happy about you GM, you are very bad… 🙁 But U dont give HELL about use the consumer… U do like Trudeau, U do what U want… U are bad Leader like Trudeau… 🙁 All I see in your comment’s by costumer’s, is complaint’s about U GM, shame on U and you engineer’s… 🙁

U change the colors of my truck High Country the RED CHERRY, that no Fu… Good… BY, By, By, GM. 🙁 🙁 🙁

    1. Amazing when driving how almost all vehicles are black, white, silver. Nobody has any individual identity? Car companies used to offer around 20 colors. So boring.

      1. The manufacturers want you to buy white, black & gray (silver) – it is cheaper for them to not have a large selection of colors. What puzzles me is, Why don’t the manufacturers want their vehicle to stand out from the rest, with brilliant and/or interesting colors?

        1. That’s funny. Although I don’t like the Dodge Ram for many reasons, I personally think they have the sharpest looking trucks in the market today. They got it right with their multitude of colors and the amount of chrome they put on their trucks. Personally, I’ve owned and worked with many Mopar’s over the years, and I know they put out an inferior product. But–They do put out a sharp LOOKING truck. GM just doesn’t get it.

          1. “Multitude of colors”? Nope. Unless you pay $80k for a TRX, your options are black, dark grey, light grey, dark blue, white (plain/pearl), dark red, light red, and light blue.

An $80k Ram buys you an orange option, which actually is a special order fleet color.

Silverado options are black (metallic/plain), dark grey, light grey, dark blue, white (plain/pearl), light red, and light blue. So the difference is Silverado gets two blacks instead of dark red. As this article says, it’s gaining tan.

            1. I’ll defer to you. I’m at a disadvantage as I wasn’t interested in looking at a Ram. I can just go by what I see on the street, and what I see are some pretty sharp looking Dodge Rams. I’m quite happy with my cherry red High Country that I took possession of last week.

          2. I do agree Rams do look good. I rarely see them in any other color than Black. Black truck, black wheels. Every where I go. Some times times they fords, some are gm. But in the end of it all. I bet 80-90% of pickups are Black. Wish they would bring back some of those 70’s color pallets. Dodge had some of the best.

        2. You’re talking about a full-size truck. The people who buy them new either are fleet/work trucks, for which they will buy white, or an older guys who will pick a conservative color like grey.

This is why there’s more flashy colors and styling on cheaper cars younger people buy, such as the Camaro, Trailblazer, and even the Spark.

  3. When you dropped the v6 aluminum engine I was done , I have a 2015 Silverado but I don’t want a 4 cyl or a straight 6 turbo, we have been a gm family for nearly ever, but when I purchase a new vehicle most likely not gonna be a GM product , you cater to the large dealers and quit listening to your customer base

      1. Let’s just hope the Camaro doesn’t go in the same direction as the Mustang. I’m sorry, but I’m old school, and this new thing they are calling a Mustang just doesn’t cut it.

    1. Have you received your double cab yet, if so when did you order. I was at my dealer back on December 20th & placed an order for a 1500LT double with a 5.3 still waiting for order to be accepted by GM. I have heard doubles are not to common now a days

      1. Nope. Ordered in early march. Getting the 3.0. Been told crew cabs are the priority. Too damn big. September to November is what I’ve been told and will probably be a 2023 also 🤷‍♂️ Delivery in Canada is so much worse. Terrible

        1. Wow so now they are saying 6 to 8 months, I was originally told 4 to 6 months, I do agree to the crew cab is to big, plus I want the 6 & a half foot box, not that tiny one. Good luck, with a lot of patience is what is needed, I guess .

  5. I bought a WHITE W/T off the lot in July 2014. Smallest thing available at the time. Dealer did search but they were either white or black. Still have it.

  6. Todd, nope yesterday got the instant message I receive from the dealer about every other week that order is still in preliminary status & he will keep me updated. Yes lower 48, I am in the Western NY / Buffalo area. it was back on 12/20/21 when I was at the dealer & placed order with dealer. I had ordered 1500 LT double cab with a 5.3, Z71 package, Silver Ice Metallic color , I really look at it as a basic truck that would be made daily (guess not). I am thinking I will do a face to face with the dealer next month while taking time off from work.

  7. I ordered a 2022 High country in Cherry Red tint coat. Dealer said I would probably get a 2023. Now I hear they are doing away with Cherry Red tintcoat. Guess I’ll be keeping my 2019 High country or searching a different breed of truck. Thanks GM. Was nice knowing you. See ya
